i am hoping to hear more positive reviews on the deo techart falcon auto focus adapter, surprisingly much cheaper than metabones and allows eye focus and phase detect. i wish this was more easily available in canada,i would love to try one. i bought a cheaper brand on sale just to try one, works ok but not updatable

I tested it. Build quality is pretty lousy compared to the metabones. It's recommended that you don't toggle the fn switch often and I can see why. It really feels like that thing will break off if you flip it too much lol. Mount lock feels kinda sketchy too.

Eye-focus and what-not works in Fn mode. The camera for all intents and purposes thinks a native lens is attached in Fn mode. Has a greater tendency to hunt though compared to the normal mode...Fn mode uses hybrid AF (compared to pure PDAF in normal mode) and you can tell that DSLR lenses are not ideal for contrast detect.

did u test with your a7rii,i am hoping to hear from anyone with original a7,its supposed to work very well on the original a7. i have heard build quality isn't that great,i don't have any great canon glass and most of my lenses i choose are manual focus anyways,i am looking for something that works decent on a7 with canon 70-200 f4is.

I tested with an a7rII. Performance in Fn mode should be comparable to the a7, though AF should be slower. My general impression is that outside of the ability to use eye focus and what-not.....Native AF>Metabones/Normal Mode>Fn Mode

Wow, that pretty much kills the deal for me. I shoot regularly wide open during the day and 1/2000s is too slow to not overexpose. And having ND filters just for that always seemed too cumbersome to bother with.

Well, at least its doing my bank account well :-P

I am happy to have saved you money David. ;-)a

It will be interesting to see if that is something that will be an issue in real life shooting. As mentioned above at f2 it may or may not be an issue. I can tell you from experience I have used an ND filter with the FE 55 at f1.8 in the past. Fortunately, it is the same filter size as the RX1RII. I will be sure to give it a real life go when I travel again in March and see if it is a problem -- I suspect not. I will take along the ND filter though.

Id rather have a faster sync speed on the A7R2 where i can change lenses.

Anyways, im not using flash that much, and when i do, i practically never faced problems with the max sync speed..

Max sync speed is a huge deal for me. I have found 1/250 so limiting in the past. I am really looking forward to having the option to go to 1/2000 sec.

Recently im very intrigued by the RX1RII but i just found out that maximum shitterspeed is 1/4000 when stopped down and wide open only 1/2000s is available? Can someone confirm this?? I just cant believe that they made a fantastic camera for that price but dont let you shoot faster than that wide open?

Am I the only one that laughed reading shutter speed misspelled ? Lol.

Most of the cameras in this segment are the same, the x100s, the Ricoh GR, etc.

The difference being those have a ND filter that's in the lens that you can switch on.

The x100t has an electronic option raising it to 1/32,000.

Not a big issue for me since I don't really shoot a lot past 1/2000, but I have a 3 stop ND filter in case it does.

Agree on all points. But to me both drawbacks dont apply: Buffer is not for importance for me, as I, since I started out with photography few years ago used continuous shooting maybe 5 times.
Battery life is really not that bad. I usually carry 2 batteries with me. One in the camera and one as a backup and I rarely have to make use of the second one in a whole day out shooting. Only when im shooting like really a lot or am doing a lot of frames with long exposure etc...

It's not even so much continuous shooting but even shot to shot buffering is annoying. Not being able to immediately review images without setting up auto review takes getting used to.

Finally getting around to putting the FE 28-70 on the Rii. Last time it was used was during the A7R days. What do you guys think about
its acuity/sharpness? Just a thought to try the two while sitting in the shop-
