I haven't shot a rodeo in a really long time, but here's one from the Lakeside Rodeo, in Lakeside, California. If I were to guess, I would say this is from 2006 or 2007.

As you can tell, this didn't pan out too well for the rider. After he was splinted up and immobilized he was loaded into an ambulance.

Fun thread. I only shoot team ropings and brandings, but I look forward to seeing what people post here.

A few months ago. I don't have lights yet, so once the sun goes down I'm pretty much done. Ready for the winter to be over so we have those longer days.

Yeehaw, I always wonder how many of the bull riders end up with back problems. They are fun to watch... nice pics.

I think the bareback riders take the most physical punishment, but the bull riders get the most injuries once off the bull or from hanging up on the bull.
Note:
I've never done either of them, that's just my observation. :)

My friends have aged out of bull riding and bareback riding and I wasn't into photography at that time. My husband started team roping a few years ago, so that's what I shoot. I dont know where you're located, but look up Jackpot ropings in your area and see what you find. I think the barrel racers practice at their own arenas, so you'd probably have to go to a rodeo to see them.
