Yeah Owain, in Spain when the building facades are renovated they put scaffolds on the entire facade so it's hard to make any photo of it. In that trip I want to photograph Edificio España but it was in a renovation process, so the complete facade had scaffolds from bottom to up.

Don't I know it ... they're currently doing that in my building! As you can see in this photo from my bedroom window ...

Also happened when I went to Santiago de Compostela ... entire Cathedral covered! I think Barcelona Cathedral was undergoing renovation when I was there in 2006 as well.

Not a nice view, that for sure, I also think the privacy issues with workers during the renovation!!. By the way, sometimes the renovations of Churches and Cathedrals looks like are going to take forever. In 2007 when I was in Barcelona I could see the restoration of the Cathedral in process too!. In La Sagrada Familia the interior wasn't completely free of scaffolds neither, so I couldn't get photos like someone may take it in this last couple of years. Maybe this is a reason to come back to Spain in some moment :p

Another capture of my trip of Madrid. Bullring Las Ventas

I suppose the restoration of a cathedral doesn't happen over-night ... in most cases they took twenty to thirty years to build, and probably with a lot more people working on them back then.

In the case of my building, I pity the builders should they happen to look in my window! (In reality I keep the blinds down when I'm out.)

I promised myself back in 2006 I would go back and see the Sagrada Familia when it was finally finished. Then I moved to Spain. That promise shouldn't be too hard to keep if I stay here.

Ventas is one of the finest examples of what man can do with a few million bricks that springs to my mind, actually. Thanks for sharing!

I was there in August this year, August 28 & 29.

The young lady below turned on her phone (music) and started dancing

I found my way to the Plaza Mayor as well. I tried to image around the stuff on the ground in the plaza.

Sorry, the new page meant I missed your post.

I think it was just about bearable temperature wise by the end of August. Did you happen to see the excellent harpist by the Palacio Real? (He's not there every day.)

It's not been a good year for photographing the Plaza Mayor. It's been partially covered for renovation throughout most of the year. I think they just about finished before the Christmas market started going up, which meant the place was filled with forklifts. I personally love forklifts but am not mad on photographing them.

EDIT: Some more recent stuff, while I'm here ...

No, I didn't see the harpist, but there was someone else playing music.

One of Spain's oldest bull rings, Ronda. Sorry about the people being in the shot - tourists (of which I was one!). Anyway, stitched panorama of 5 handheld shots.

Take them out. Looks like it would be fairly easy.

Yep, sending a bull in there would probably do it.
