RRS L bracket, allows for spacing in portrait orientation.

I have one on my A7r.

I found a used one for sale and will go with that...thanks for the tip to those that mentioned it...the camera came with two brackets from the previous owner, but neither of them allow for the plug to be in while in portrait orientation.

I was going to try the Sony Camera APP...but it doesn't support Android 6.0...:-(

Thanks David. I loved the images from it the last time but my inability to dial in the af killed it for me.

After picking up the x100 a week ago after a couple years wanting one i have discovered I actually prefer just using my a7rii in most instances. When it's a choice of grabbing either camera this week I've grabbed the Sony. The Fuji takes great images and I love the on camera flash (that's what my Nissin question was about) but I'm thinking it's not for me. I had to try it though or I would have always been wondering. I think I'm going to sell and pick up a nissin i40 and an 85mm lens instead

you go through gear like crazy! I don't know how you do it...my play budget got a lot smaller with the addition of my daughter...

I find buying used and then selling a cheaper option versus renting gear. There's no camera shops here like b+h or adorama so I can't test in store. Also I've got a certain amount of money invested in photography and try and not add to it, so if I want something new (to me) I need to sell stuff.

Hopefully one day I'll settle on my lineup (doubt it)

Edit - my landscape lineup is finally locked down I reckon

On this shot, I used the zebra function to give me the highlight warning, then I dialed down the exposure comp dial until the blinkies went away. Then I adjusted the dial about 1.5 stops and took the shot. This method works well with the Sony sensor. In post, you can recover the detail in the sky.

Looks great. Interesting tip on the zebra - I'll explore to see if that workflow fits me. :) A 35mm f/1.4 remains large on my wishlist.

Thanks for the input, I think I will give it a go.

On another GAS related topic is the Nissin I40 still the best bang for buck, small, TTL flash for the Sony? Gene, is it yourself that uses one from memory?

I use the Nissin Di700A flash. That one, while larger than the I40 allows wireless triggering with the Nissin Air 1 Commander. It's a great system for the money and works extremely well. In fact, I bought a 2nd Di700A flash and now both are controlled by the Air 1 Commander. TTL and HSS both work great.

Oh, and I have to add that AF using my Canon 85 f1.8 and Metabones IV also works very well.

Thanks Gene, I think the smaller I40 is the one I will go for. I have a yongnuo and triggers that I can use off camera if needed but I find it too big on camera. Thanks for the info though

Thanks David. It's a good method. Credit goes to Fred Miranda.

The Canon 35L f1.4 is a great lens. Very sharp. Good combination on the a7RII.

And my Sigma 35 f1.4 helps me not get GAS over either the Sony 35 f1.4 or the Canon 35 f1.4. :-)

You know what they say about lusting after something when you already got yourself a good thing going. After using the RX1R II a little more today, I feel like you the a7rII is a pretty damn good thing. Don't get me wrong the RX1R II is an incredible beast but I'm having trying to rationalize to myself keeping both it and the a7rII around. There are more things that the a7rII could do that the RX1R II can do, than the RX1R II could do that the a7rII can do (if that makes any sense). The small form factor, the leaf shutter, and the perfectly matched lens aside (but boy what a nice lens that is), most of the other things that the RX1R II does, the a7rII can do as well.

I'll give it a few more days of real world shooting but I'm already leaning one way. The a7rII is looking like it'll remain in the bag while just a few days ago it looked the opposite. And I'm looking another direction towards a camera which I'll classify as my snap shot camera (cheaper, fun to use, small and compact, decent IQ, but doesn't have to be my workhorse so a few deficiencies won't kill it for me).

(Apologies in advance for the crappy iPhone pictures, sadly don't have a 3rd camera to take better pictures of the other two cameras, lol).
