Thanks for the hint. We were looking at everything we have in the house and we plain don't have ANYTHING large enough and at least "whitish". Weird household, I know, but that's what it is. We don't own the typical bedsheets.

I'll likely get some reasonable stands and white cloth or curtain, or whatever for next time. It's not too expensive and overall worth it.

Thanks for saying I got it right - took a while to dial in the exposure, positions, flash power in all places and as I had different flashes also the experimenting which one worked best where. In the end I just did with one 32" umbrella and two Yongnuo flashes triggered wirelessly. It wasn't hard, just took a while to dial in all the parameters.

Most of the bike looks blown out to me.

Not quite blown but surely over exposed. Not real crazy about the up lighting of the model either.

I'm sorry, but I'm not loving the lighting either

Looking at your equipment it's obvious that you aren't new to photography, so I'm wondering what the purpose of this image was & why did you choose it as your first post?
Ordinarily I'd think that the blown out bike was because your monitor wasn't calibrated, but usually uncalibrated monitors are adjusted too hot out of the box, so I don't think that would explain it.
So what's the story behind the image?

I kind of get the idea. There are only a couple hot spots on the bike. There are also some noticeable shadows on the bike as well. I think overpowering the lights helped with the shadows and created the interesting effects with the hot spots. Oh, and what a great looking model as well.

I'm going to go for posting about the most obscure aspect of this...

I LOVE the yellow "caution" striped sandbags! They're great! One more little thing to keep folks from tripping over my light stands (they still will...) -- I know, Google is my friend, but do you remember where you got those?

Amazon. Search for photo sandbags. Fill them with pea gravel, not sand.
