actually got some blue sky today for the first time in 3 weeks ,a great spotted woodpecker and a long eared owl ,which is a fairly rare bird and a lifer for me ,the main difference to short eared owls being the ear tufts and orange eyes as opposed to yellow

and another couple from today, the female stonechat was shot directly into the sun ,and again the owl has required extensive photoshop work ,but being a lifer for me it was worth it

Very nice. I've been pleasantly surprised at how this lens performs hand held. I can't hold it for long, but it does well for the short time I can!

Just beautiful with the sun sparkling off of the sea foam, and perfectly exposed subject.

Deep dark overcast yesterday and today, but I had a few chickadees coming in so I cranked up the ISO to 2500 and gave it a go. I'm not good at dealing with noise in post, so I don't generally like to go over 1600 on the 70D. Although IQ is suffering a bit here, I was happy with the focus on the eyes. The Sigma was focusing very well (and very quickly) in the dim light.

Here's a few from Friday. Still overcast, but a little brighter, so I was able to keep the ISO at 1600. I think the comparison shows why it's a good idea for me to not exceed 1600!!

nice enough jeff ,the only thing i would do slightly different is to lift the exposure a tad in p/p ,that should give them the desired impact

I see your point there, and will do just that. Now that I see this on my PC screen, I think part of the problem is that my new laptop that I edited these on is a little too bright and I need to calibrate it.

Lowered the brightness on my screen and upped the exposure til I had a decent balance between exposure and noise. I like the results a lot better, and thank you for the feedback!
