I may switch out our 6D and go for one of the A7 series bodies.

thats one of the reasons I jumped on the a6000 too.

Very interested to try one of the A7's but as photography is a hobby it starts to get expensive. Still, wouldn't mine a look though :p

I am still loving my 6D, especially for the astro stuff I've started getting into, but the size of the a6000 is great as a walk around camera

Wow, thanks for the very thorough breakdown.

I'm in the process of selling our 70D (mainly because of the bounce flash issues), I think i'm going to get the A6000. Your breakdown makes me thinks it very much worth a shot.

Depending on how it works for us, I may switch out our 6D and go for one of the A7 series bodies.

I'm going to give the A6000 a workout in a few weeks when I use it at a college football bowl game. Our seats are decent, comparable to seats I had a few years ago when I used my 60D/EF 200 2.8ii combo at the Outback bowl. 12th row, 20 yard-line. I'm interested to see how the a6000 tracks with the LEAE4 A-mount adapter on it.

As for switching out the 6D for an A7 series body, I wish you the best of luck. I loved mine and I do miss it.

That said, I'm enjoying getting to know my A7R. I'm leaning towards keeping it. The resolution is so impressive.

It surprises me that you did sell this one, as you said the Sigma 50 Art and the 135 are like a cheat code. I really enjoy the combo. I don't know if it's just Gas....

You folks persuaded me to join the fold (that and playing with Mom's DSC-RX100). Found an open box deal at BB marked at $519.99 with kit, and walked out the door with that and the E 1.8/50mm OSS for $617. The Sony rep was standing there ringing me up going, "So, yeah...this opened box (which has never been opened) rang up for $356.99. Sooooo...I'm not dragging anyone over here to change it, as long as we can both live with that." I nodded and smiled, thanked the gent, and almost skipped my way out to the truck.

Battery is charging. Pics to follow soon. Just wanted to take a moment to share my Christmas miracle and introduce myself to the fold.

And I still mean that--the 50A/135L was truly an excellent combo for me. Problem was, I kept whacking my toddlers in the head with the ~5LB combo on the head when we were out and about if I had my camera slung over my shoulder. It made me feel terrible! I wanted a lighter, smaller kit and that is why I switched.

I just don't feel like I'm sacrificing with my switch, but it is an adjustment. Leaving the Canon familiarity was and is hard. As pedestrian as the tracking could be on the 6D, it did ok with the 135L or 200 2.8 L. The A6000 with the adapted Minolta 200 2.8 HS either won't really track or I need to learn how to get it to via the menu. My first 300 shots with the adapted Minolta, it isn't giving me the IQ the Canon equivalent did--even on a 60D or T4i--and certainly not the smooth bokeh. I have yet to try it on the A7R, though.

The FE 55 1.8 is, however, a slightly better lens than the 50A. The margin is not big, but it is there in bokeh and color reproduction. Focusing speed is fast on both lenses, with the FE 55 being crazy-fast on the A6000.

Lastly, I tried out the HVL-F43M flash the other night at an event and I definitely need to get more familiar with it. My first impression is that I am going to miss my 580exii, though. It didn't seem as powerful, and the mount is made of plastic instead of metal--which to me is crazytown.

This is the part that gets me nervous. I live off of bounce flash (use the 430 exii). Just sold off our 70D in large part because of the bounce flash issues.

The A6000 is very attractive because of the size to have an easy walk around as well as for the focus (eye accurate eye focus). I will probably wait for a deal to pop up (as the A7000 should be out soon).

Then I will try it, who knows, maybe it will open Pandora's box and I will venture completely down that path. Just still not sure.

Tried out the FE 55 and the FE 90 Macro on mine before I walked out of the store. Almost had to take out a loan. Trying to pace myself and learn restraint, as I grow in years.

The B&Ws aren't bad, either. Caught Bruno mid-bark.

The image above was so blown out, from testing my flash, you could only see his eyes, nose, mouth, and the dark diagonal line behind him. A testament to Sony's DR capabilities.
