David, turn off all lens corrections within the menu. I previously read that these are best sorted in post to avoid things like that happening

The thing is, i was 100% sure that i did this the day 1 i got this camera. Have to look at the settings again to make sure its off!

Just read the end of the thread and like my assumption, it really is vignetting (lens-) correction. Really need to check if it was on

Well after months of owning both 5DS R and a7R II I have finally taken the time to test each camera using the same lenses (all of my lenses) at all the main apertures (up to f/11). The test shot was a landscape out at nearby West Point Lake and I was able to fix the same views as well as focus on the exact same twig.

I'm just now going through the images - I've looked at 11-24mm and 16-35mm f/4 IS so far - and the results are really surprising me. The extreme corners of the a7R II shots are consistently sharper. Only a hair sharper, but sharper nonetheless. Wow. Gives me renewed confidence to go ahead and part with the 5DS R.

Going back to look at more lens tests, but just had to pop in and share my findings.

that surprising, as one complain about a7 series I heard that they are not all that great with ultra wide angles.

After owning 5DIII, and playing with 5Ds R, i definitely would pick the a7R II.

I wasn't sure what that was at first...-?..monitor calibration...a definite must! I don't like being on non-calibrated monitors.

Went to Bulgaria to visit old friends who are doing the expat thing. I took the a7RII and the a7S, with 12mm, 21mm, 35mm and 50mm CV lenses and the 24-240mm Sony. I don't believe I ended up using the 12mm, but I did use the other three Voigtlanders.

Oh, it was added via Photoshop. I've been playing with different ways and places to put my signature.

Like the signature I etched into this bottle of 18 year old Lismore Scotch. (I wonder how many people even noticed it)

Must have been an awesome trip. Thanks for sharing a few photos. I was tempted to get the Voightlander 21 f1.8 but opted for the Batis 25. I just feel more comfortable havng AF with shallow depth of fields.

It's a very nice carry lens--compact for what it is. I also have from my Canon cabinet a ZE 21mm f2.8 and it is superb on the a7R, but bulky and heavy compared to the CV. Also I have used the Sigma 12-24mm Ver. II and found it equally useful, bulky but light weight.

Optically, nothing quite compares with the Zeiss ZE. But the Ultron does very, very well.

Another bird from Bulgaria. This is a crop and very edited. At 240mm in low light neither the OSS or IBIS overcomes my shake entirely.
