I wasn't sure what that was at first...-?..monitor calibration...a definite must! I don't like being on non-calibrated monitors.

Definitely! I used to just think it wasn't necessary, but now I can't imagine editing on an uncalibrated monitor.

That reminds me...I should re-calibrate soon.

Got another two questions about adapted lenses and AF. Is it normal that I only get the really small focus box going green and not the larger one I get with native lenses? and also my steadyshot goes to Auto but how does it know its an 85mm lens? (or is that info sent as its a smart adaptor?)

Which Focus Area are you using?
Do you have Face Detect ON?

With an adapted lens, if you are using WIDE focus area, and you have enabled face detect, you will get a Big Green Square if a Face is recognized - otherwise you will get one or more small green squares when focus lock is achieved.

At least with a MB iv T adapter, the FL data is passed from the lens through the adapter - so it is automatic.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Im using flexible spot small and face detect is off. I can see my small square that I use to select the focus point but when focus is achieved its even smaller squares inside the main one that go green. When I use native lenses its the flexi spot itself that goes green.

This may be standard but ive not used AF on adapted lenses until now so just wanted to check

Thanks Charlie. Im just ordering a Metabones. An expense I didnt want but seems like I need to now

EDIT - Ordered. Estimated Delivery Date 22/12/2015-28/12/2015

I got the metabones iV T for free from BH. I also ordered the Saker Falcon Lite, it half the price of Metabones, it can be updated by Bluetooth. Plus it also does Eye AF, AF in Video, and Automatic AF, which Metabones doesn't do.

And supposedly works with Canon 85L Mark I, Metabones doesn't.

Flexible Spot Medium can be significantly better in lower contrast situations.

I only have a 28F2 native lens so almost all my experience is with adapted Canon L lenses for the most part.

My standard setup would be Flexible Medium and then a quick switch of the MF AF switch on the lens, 2 quick presses of the C2 key that I mapped magnification to, if I want to nail a wide aperture, then click.

I have experimented with WIDE AF zone with Face Detect if I'm shooting F4 or smaller apertures and it works well as long as there aren't too many competing faces.

The Saker has got a lot of reports saying the build quality is poor. Thats what put me off that one

Nice and sharp! Ugh my personal preference on bokeh is clashing with the onion bokeh in the light blue light circles :(

Yeah it seems to be round centre frame then onion as it goes to the edges but on other shots its mainly round. Not sure how the onion is introduced, I was tilting the camera up towards the light in this shot.

What I do like is that when my adaptor actually works the AF nails focus every time. None of the frustrations I had the first time I owned this when I had a Canon
