This image from a single raw from sony A7Rii + Astrotech AT65.
No guiding, no tracking; just a 30 second exposure at ISO 12,800
then polished in PScc and LRcc.

I took 35 subs of Andromeda BUT DeepSkyStacker chokes on my Sony
.raw files. I'll also attach the box that comes up in DSS.
Does anyone have any clues? I can only imagine what it might look like
stacked with my lights and darks.
Thanks for any clues/help with DSS and Sony raw

Did you try adjusting the star detection, as it suggests?

If it is really choking on the raw files, use Irfanview (or similar) to convert to TIFF, first. Then try stacking the TIFFs.

Given that that's a single exposure, I'd love to see the result after stacking!

Thanks Andicus.
I just got it working!
Close to your idea.
I converted all raw's to .dng in Bridge.
Now DSS accepts them.

Good that all worked out.
Can't believe one image is this beautiful with so much detail from core to dust.
Lets see if the stacked image can beat it!

I'll give it a go when I can but sadly I've returned to work---they own me every other week and I can't get
much done when working :(

I did do the stack of the Pleiades and will try to process it tomorrow afternoon and get it up.

I am learning the weakness of the Sony for astro. One thing we really missed (compared to the 7D, 70D, 60D, 60Da) is a targeting
reticle. So we used a 7D (it was lying idle, the 60D, 60Da was on a CGEM double mount with 2 AT65s) to align then put the Sony on.
I can say that I've never seen any camera with a sensor like this. The A7s might be even better with its huge photosites but so far
I've lost every offer I've made on one at FredMiranda, but I am trying.

Glad to hear it! I had a similar problem with Canon cr2 files before, which is why I knew about it. I believe an update fixed it, at some point.

That's a very cool camera. Hopefully we'll see more results from it!

15 1 min subs at ISO 3200
9 darks 1 min ISO 3200

Obviously having difficulty processing this one but I did get everything to stack in DSS, so
that's a plus. Anyway M45

Both images are very nice , however it would be nicer if you could adjust the magenta in M31 towards blue and in M45 adjust the CYAN towards blue also .

OK finally a 'completed' image via stacking in DSS .raw files from the Sony.
The processing could use a lot of work but overall I'm please. Pleased because where I live we have clear Sunny (or dark)
skies at 55-65 days a year. Throw in the Moon, and my work schedule (I work graveyard) and my opportunities are scant
at best.
Anyway, the Running Man and Orion via the Sony A7Ri + Astrotech AT65, tracking (but no auto-guiding) on Celestron Advanced Vx.

Another nice image, but the colours are very strange.

Are you using any sort of light pollution filter which may be affecting the colour?

No filters used Andicus.
The strangeness comes from my nascent arrival to astro
and the sad fact that in my location there are 55-65 clear nights a year,
adding to the angst is the Moon and worse, that I work every other week
graveyard.
So my opportunities to practice (either shooting or processing) are rare.
