J Blake, your shots are amazing!!! I have no knowledge in this genre of photography but it highly interests me. I live near the Badlands in SD. It would be really cool to set up there and shoot the colored pinnacles at night. I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

Thanks hikermk!

Go back through the thread, there a few time folks have asked for advice on how to shoot night landscapes which was explained. Below I linked one post, but I believe there may be one or two more.

Best thing is to try, fail and learn. Asking specific questions is much more fruitful than a general how do I do this. Good luck, and post what you come up with.

Cool stuff everyone! I need to get to more naturescapes done as most of my night shots are cityscapes. One from earlier this month in Japan.

Mount Ranier lit up by a full moon from September 2013. We had spent a couple of days up at Paradise and Sunrise with the mountain socked in. Returned to our room after dinner to see the moon shining in. Grabbed the camera and ran out of the front of the lodge to get our first view of the mountain. As I played with exposure I was amazed at what appeared on the camera starting to look like daylight.
