Just read that the latest firmware update for the a7RII addresses the overheating issue when recording video. It only works in super 35 mode. Very impressed with Sony addressing these issues.

Wow, very very nice bike! Please report back with your review of the Campagnolo group set. What is it like compared to Dura ace/Ultegra?

My metabones came through yesterday, not had a chance to update the firmware but the good news is my sigma 85 works perfectly. I knew that theoretically I shouldn't get front and back focus issues on mirrorless but i was still skeptical. Thankfully its been nailing everyone shot. Tonight's task is to update the firmware on the adaptor and on the camera (I still don't have uncompressed raw!)

Well I just went to update my metabones and found out that it shipped with 0.47. Good to know I didnt get old stock. Just about to go for A7RII rev 3 firmware

Super cool! I was going to take a photo of my new e-bike, but it is so lame and embarrassing next to that and MedicineMan's awesome bikes.

Of course this assumes you use an arca-swiss type quick release ballhead to begin with. The "L" plate is like the flat plate that mounts to the bottom of the camera for quick attachment and release from the ballhead. The advantage of an "L" plate as mentioned is that it makes it easy to place the camera on the ballhead in either landscape or portrait orientation quickly.

Here's a shot of my ballhead with the camera mounted in portrait mode using the new "L" bracket...

OK dumb noob question (dumb because I've only been using the a7 series for two years!): How do you do a DOF preview...there a button for that like on a Canon?

Trying to calibrate my nodal slide, so need to have a large DOF to see my calibration sticks.

David, there is no depth of field button. With the EVF what you see is what you get. That is the beauty of EVF - no more guessing.

What I see out of my EVF is the lens wide open (f/1.4) even though the aperture is set smaller...a DOF button closes the aperture down to the desired aperture (e.g. f/16). So, how do I change the EVF behavior to do what you said? What is the menu setting?

Got it. Thanks!

EDIT: Should have tried it before saying "Got it". Just tried it and I see no difference. Either way I am getting and f/1.4 display in my EVF although the aperture is set to f/16. What am I doing wrong?

There is no dedicated button like Canon. But it is a function you can assign to a button. I assigned it to C1 for a given set of circumstances (namely, memory setting 1, where I have everything set for landscape).

That's a different approach to it. You just have to set the "Display Effect ON" (May not be exact wording). I usually turn this off, because when I shoot at night with long exposures, this would just show a black screen (or a very dim screen), since my actual light comes from a prolonged opening of the shutter (5s or more).
This is why I use the DOF button assigned to C1 in those situations.

"Aperture Preview"! That's what I was missing. Got my C1 mapped with it as well. Thanks a bunch, now I'm all set to calibrate my nodal slide. :)

That button should also come in handy for locking/pre-setting the aperture of a Canon-mount lens for use with the ND Throttle, since there is no aperture control on the ND Throttle.
