I liked the HS Football thread idea and having a place for us all to share our photos every week, so I figured I'd start one for this year and basketball.

This is my first year shooting sports period, as well as basketball, but it is fun!

I use my 50D with a 28mm f/1.8 and my 40D with a 85mm f/1.8. Set my ISO to 6400 (H1) on the 50D, and 3200 (H) on the 40D. I use an aperature of f/2.8 on the 28mm on the 50D, and f/2 on the 85mm on the 40D both with a shutter speed of 1/640th. I use Lightroom for the noise.

My first basketball game of the season. You have to change thought with basketball from football. They will get better.

Thanks for the feedback!

I actually bumped them almost a stop in post because I thought they were a little dark SOC. I might have over-bumped them. I might try 800 to see how they look, and maybe stick closer to their original exposure.

The gym lighting (like most) is pretty garbage. It actually gets darker near the rim, which certainly isn't ideal.

What's the typical keeper rate (not necessarily a "must share", but just in focus and relatively usable composition) for a high school game for you guys?

I felt mine was pretty low, but maybe I'm just not being realistic with my expectations.
