Great shot. Is that the actual beam or is that post? Either way, love it!

Thanks fellas,

the beam of light is 100% real. There is actually VERY minimal post done to the image compared to my typical work flow, the image is almost straight OOC. It was past sunset, and there was a rain storm that came in, the beam of light was visible b/c of the mist/rain/fog that was coming through and I ran down to the bottom of the lighthouse to get the image before it went totally dark. If you look closely you can actually see the streams of rain coming down vertically in the beam.

My challenge was finding the correct shutter speed with a usable ISO setting as I was limited to shooting basically wide open due to the lack of light. I wanted to capture the beam but wasn't willing to shoot at a ridiculous ISO setting for the loss of detail in the rain, but lower ISO settings required me to draw out the shutter speed which made the light beam much wider and less appealing. After a few test shots I settled on the above results and was very pleased to capture it almost exactly as I envisioned it.

here is one more of the same lighthouse, more post, long exposure and probably a bit less interesting..
