Well I for one have a hard time understanding why that photo would be posted to the "funniest sign pictures" group.

I don't think I can provide an objective assessment so I asked my greyhound to critique the image.

Note: opinions expressed by my greyhound are hers and hers alone.

She thinks the framing could be better. She is not impressed with the depth of field and lack of creamy bokeh resulting in a distracting background. Cloning out the oxidation would add an element of freshness and youth to the sign. She also feels the spacing of the dog, plate and bottle could be improved, perhaps to conform to the rule of thirds or golden ratio. Adding a "to the right" arrow between the dog and the plate to accentuate the gravity of the dog's vacation plans would add the necessary "oomph" required to connect with today's high velocity entertainment generation.

With regard to plating and presentation of "man's best friend", her opinion is the lack of garnish detracts somewhat. A tennis ball, rawhide or squeaky toy would be an a marked improvement. She also indicated there should be more beverage options. Whereas Beagle is definitely a beer breed, Saluki should be served with white wine. Pit Bull is best accompanied by Jägermeister. Although drink selection has nothing to do with the picture itself, it makes her less likely to recommend the venue, thus generating fewer hits on Flickr/500px/1x for the photographer.

While she realizes manipulating a photograph of a sign in post is editorializing, and misrepresenting the true nature of the sign, she admits such changes could increase the marketability of the establishment, as long as a patron didn't compare the photograph to the original sign.

When asked "RAW vs jpg?", she exclaimed "I Shoot RAW! (Fro Knows Phởto, huge fan)" and so should the photographer have in this case, as long as he isn't planning on submitting the image to Reuters.

My greyhound also recommends returning to the location and reshooting the image with a Nikon or Sony body and a high quality fast prime lens in order to extract the most dynamic range from the scene, ensure superb colour rendition and provide razor thin DOF (darn dog won't get off my case about buying Canon).

When asked if this image should be posted in the funniest sign thread, she asserts it is indeed funny, because dog in costume, morbid before/after and the irony of human behaviour.

Happy Holidays and a sign to boot!

Yes I did crop off the text at the bottom, which was unnecessary in my opinion.

In reference to the preceding posts in this thread, no, she is not going to eat the lizard.
