I had never heard of it until your post...looking it up it runs through the Play Memories App...which is not compatible with my phone...due to the Android version my phone runs. And...LE is my favorite genre to work in, stacking doesn't provide the smooth results that a continuous exposure would. I have a ton invested in filters and controllers and what not...and kinda like using them!

I'm the same. I stumbled across a thread on FM yesterday about the ND app and whilst it gave ok-ish results it still didn't look like a real long exposure to my eyes. Could be handy for a lens that can't take filters but perhaps not.

The GND app (sky something or other) seems a bit more interesting. It allows you to choose the exposure for the land, then the sky, then choose the gradation point and how quickly it changes between the two. It also lets you choose different apertures and exposure times between the land and the sky and outputs a single raw.

That all said I would still rather take bracketed shots using the cameras in built bracket function and then combine using the raya pro panel that I've started using (thanks to recomemdation in here). I feel luminosity masks give the best blended results

I need to get on board with the Raya Pro Panel...I watched one of the tutorials the other day on frequency separation for cloning out dust spots that blew me away...luminosity masks despite all my reading, I still struggle with them, I understand the concept...its learning the workflow from shooting to editing that I am not as versed on...

LMs always puzzled me too until I got the panel. It takes all the difficulty out it. All you have to do is capture the bracketed shots and its easy from there.

When I installed the panel there was a slight issue whereby a few of the panel labels had null on them. I contacted jimmy macintyre and he said I was only the second person to have this issue ever and his tech guys can't replicate it. He gave me a full refund without me asking and said I can use the panel anyway as it functions fully as it should. Great customer service!

Yeah and same issue. Its not actually a big deal. Where it should say bright 1, bright 2, bright 3 mine says bri-null on all 3 buttons. But they all work fine. I was just really impressed the way he handled my issue (although not resolved)

I have a filter kit as well, but I consider the app just another tool in the bag.

there's a reason why this app is so appealing to me

1. $5
2. Stacking in photoshop is a royal pain, this app does it in camera and quick comparatively.
3. Possible ultra clean LE, no color cast, vignetting issues, contrast or sharpness penalty
4. Saves in raw (you will need to initialize the settings which defaults to jpeg)
5. No hot pixels

downside

1. Many actuations and thus battery life?
2. Will not work well for shorter exposures.

compared to what we spend on filters, this is a drop in the bucket, and worth a shot.

Yes indeed! Wishing merriment to all. :)
This will be the oddest holiday period I have ever experienced. It will be 80F tomorrow and today we have already had around 5-6" of rain and it will continue all day. Love it here, but I also miss Missouri. Still, joyful times. :)
