Fortunately my wife has become acclimated to high gear prices. The last couple Canon lenses I've purchased were $2K+, so these are affordable by comparison. I don't think I could convince her that I "need" an Otus...

Weeks ago when she asked what I wanted for Christmas, I gave my usual answer of "eh, whatever, just don't spend much, I don't need anything" then jokingly added "unless you can find a Batis 85 somewhere". Then a few days ago I spotted this one in Adorama's used inventory, not a huge discount, but it was listed at grade "D" which equates to "little to no signs of use"... we'll see how accurate that is. With how rare they are, even if I hate it, I could probably flip it for what we paid.

You were headed to Mississippi? Definitely a terrible weather day.

No, headed to Florida via ATL, all the flights out of my are were cancelled.
Re-booked for tomorrow...fingers crossed.

where did you or the very nice person that bought it for you find one...last I saw they were not even available in FE mount yet, except for pre-order...I gotta admit...the Zeiss lenses are works of modern minimalism...I wonder how long the OLED will last...

you should teach a class on how to manage that, you could make enough to buy any lens you wanted!

Merry Christmas everyone! Man, some of y'all are getting some great gifts with lenses and new monitors. Charlie, that Dell sounds awesome. My wife treated me with the Peak Design messenger bag and Xrite i1Display Pro monitor calibration unit.

I'm off work until after New Years so I'll get more time to shoot for a bit.

I live in South Florida (Delray Beach)! We are having record high temps. What part of Florida are you visiting?

Very nice, I have been in the penthouse of the grand hyatt .... not a great reason the guy I was consulting for got stuck with them after construction that project really took him down. We ended up having business meetings up there.
