A work in progress that I didn't take seriously when I started it and regret the way it's gone since, but too lazy to start again. Extra large thumbs for old farts like me with poor eyesight. All genres of photography but specialising in captive fish photography with a tutorial on how I acheive results

Brad, love your site!
You may wish to consider a different first image.
I was unable to see the arrows and was unsure what to do at first.

Some nice images there.
Some drop-down menus on top segregating galleries would really help though. Putting all the pictures in one page might not be a very efficient way.

Thank you very much for that feedback.
It is my first attempt at a web gallery, and used a Lightroom preset. I will look into getting a menu etc.
Cheers
Sean

I shoot for one local racetrack every week as the track photographer and also at a couple others occasionally. I supply pictures to the track and local media as requested and also can sell prints and digital copies to the racers and fans. I am a hobbyist that loves racing and am fortunate to work at my favorite tracks.

I have two objectives with my website.

1) Promote the racetrack with a weekly feature article for each division. The feature articles have a photo gallery at the end of the article with watermarked thumbnail images from that week.

The previous weeks pictures are moved to a separate a tab for each track identified by date and division.

2) Provide a method for the racers to see the images for either viewing and/or orders. I don't take orders direct from the site, but contact info is available to order. I print myself at home and either hand deliver at the track or mail. Wanted to create a site to give people and opportunity to see pictures for purchase & also to increase my visibility. Sold over 2x what I did last year, so something is working.

I have received complements from several racers and fans, but looking for your feedback. Took me a while to create, but I really like this theme and structure.

I'm finding your website a little overwhelming?
If I click on "Flat Rock Photos" - I get a long list of "galleries" with the most recent at the BOTTOM?
If it were me, I would have them ordered in the reverse - with the most recent at the TOP and the oldest down the
bottom.
On a mobile, one needs to scroll a LOT to get to the most recent race meeting.

The naming of these galleries is a bit random (to me!).
You appear to have a variety of race classes scattered together - I would set up separate categories/folders for each of the different race classes and then within each have them arranged from more recent to older. (That may not work as I don't quite grasp the setup at your race meetings)
You have an inconsistent system for including the date: eg 4/18/15 ... 4-25 ... 5-2-15
Some don't seem to have a date at all: eg "Stan Lee 150 LM"
See the attached screenshot

The first gallery on the second row has "Practice" split over two lines.
You seem to have a lot of space left and right - is it possible to fit either more galleries per row or have each gallery take up a wider space for the titles not to be broken up.

If you click on a thumbnail on say page 1 of any gallery, you don't seem to be able to click through them and move to page 2. You have to get out of the full view and then select the page and start on the thumbnails again. Seems a bit "clunky" to me?

In order to place an order, people need to contact you (I have no problem with that). I'm just wondering how they let you know WHICH photo(s) they want. ie how do they identify the photos they want?

Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to look and respond. Not many would take the time with the screenshot, so it is much appreciated

Most of the issues you mentioned are in the photo galleries due to the design and formatting of the Next Gen Gallery Word Press plug in, so not much I can do there.

Putting the more recent at the top is a good idea. Keep in mind the latest pictures are also at the bottom of the individual main feature articles.

Typically the track has three divisions a night; Figure 8 (F8) Late Model and Street Stocks. I can see if subfolders are possible to separate all by division within each main folder. The Stan Yee and a couple others without dates are the biggest races of the year, so my customers don't need a date listed to know what it is. Date naming could be more consistent. The vast majority of my customers are the racers themselves, so they understand the naming structure.

I am still trying to figure out a better naming scheme for each photo that I can do in batch processing. Too time consuming to name them individually by car #. I have people order by indicating date, page, row and column. A bit cumbersome, but it works. Unfortunately, there are some inconsistencies between web and mobile that I can't avoid.

Besides the issues with the galleries, what did you think about the general site page? This was my first attempt at building a site, so there was a steep learning curve. This was made by myself using a standard WP template, and I just don't have the knowledge to customize much of it yet.

Hey. I like your site. Simple, to the point and clean. Good luck with the sales. Do you the care of your own fulfillment?
