I REALLY like this

Thanks! Honestly, so do I.

When I saw "special" as one of the words I started thinking about special editions of products and such and had just bought the limited edition of my favorite point-and-shoot film camera, the Olympus Stylus Epic. I thought about ways to photograph it and thought it would be great to show off the "all-weather" part of its description. So then I just needed rain, and I needed rain when I was home. That finally happened yesterday with a drenching morning rain that turned into a lovely thunderstorm.

When it really picked up I grabbed a wooden stool off our front porch and moved it into the driveway near the garage, as my wife was like, "wait - you're gonna do what?", lol. I set the camera on the stool to get nice and wet while I gathered up my gear and brought it out to the garage. I put one flash on the rear of my wife's car in the garage - at about a 45-degree angle from the Olympus. I put another flash on the ground directly behind the Olympus (after covering it with a gallon-size Ziploc bag to protect it from the rain). Then I just stood in the dryness of the garage and fired away, adjusting the strength of the flashes from the 5d's menu and occasionally moving the flashes slightly.

I was thrilled with what I saw on the back of the camera. Dried everything with a towel, brought everything inside, slapped a Lightroom preset on my favorite of the images then adjusted it to taste, and voila! My favorite non-person photo of the year. :)

I know nobody asked how I did it, lol, but I wanted to share anyway just because I'm so thrilled with it.
