Finally got over to Farlington yesterday and got some shots of the owls. Must admit that I was disappointed by the behaviour of some people who really invaded the owls space. And they were at it all day! Just how many shots do you need of a bird? I was there for a couple of hours at the most and I had over 400 useable shots. So here are two, as posted in the birds thread.

Fantastic shots Becky looks like it came a bit closer than when i was down there last although i see you had the extender on (was that on the bottom field )
I have just ordered the sigma 150-600 contemporary to give that a go and trying to decide were to order the 7d mkll from
I think the wife thinks she is going to put them away for xmas for me but I think I will have to give them a little try first (thats if I get to them first :-P:lol::-D)

Hi Colin, thank you for the nice comment. Actually it wasn't that close. I was shooting at 700 MM. and with the crop factor that works out at 1120mm effective. Then add a crop of the image of about 30% and that brings things quite close. The controlling factor is the quality of the basic image to accept such treatment and still look really sharp.

Fantastic shots Becky! That 7DII clearly hits a sharp focus. I still haven't been down there; I've been away both the past weekends.

Nice little fella.

Not done anything myself recently, apart from this shot on the way back from music practice the other night.

Lovely shots, Colin. You will find the 7 mk2 very good indeed. I am now thinking of the new 100-400, which will work with my Sony 7r mk2, which I find is a fabulous camera. But Canon has the lenses, and the sports/wildlife cameras of choice. So I use the Sony for everything but wildlife.

However here is my favourite SEO shot so far.

I can't remember if I posted any of the shots I took in Iceland last September. I don't think I did, so here are one or two taken with the Sony camera and Canon lenses.

The first is Sellfoss, the second a view using the 70-200 lens at around 200mm of the Western Fiords, the oldest part of Iceland. n amazing place!

Fantastic owl in flight shot Becky (and I love the landscapes as well )
I have been over a few times with the new kit to try to get some in flight shots but the weather has been against me every time so far although I did get this snap of one on a post
So hopefully the weather at the weekends will get better and I might get one in flight
Colin
