Hello fellow 6D users. I'm new to the group, and new to the 6D (just upgraded). My camera came with the 24-105 mm (non L) lens. I'm thinking of upgrading to the same lens (I really like it), only going with the "L" series (EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM). My question has probably been asked before, but I can't find it on any thread: Is upgrading to the "L" lens a good move? If you place an identical pic taken with the "L" lens next to a a non "L" lens pic, can the upgrade in quality be noticed easily? Thanks for any input anyone is willing to share.

As far as I am aware the kit lens is an L lens, black with a red pinstripe, not white like other 'L's.

Really enjoying the shots in this thread gang!

I was fortunate enough to get in on the Canon stacking coupon situation in late Oct. for the 6D. Unfortunately, I received it right before a work assignment and never had a chance to shoot with it until I returned (brought my 70D instead). Anyway, hoping to be posting in here soon.

I think there is a new "kit" 24-105 that comes with the 6D that is not F4 at all ranges. I don't think its an "L" lens

Another visit to my favourite West Auckland beach with a couple of mates tonight.

Sunset not as good as yesterday, but the low tide showed some great starfish

Yes, you can get the 6D with the 24-105 STM lens instead of the L lens for a few hundred dollars cheaper.
I was a cheapskate and went with the STM - and after reading reviews and taking my own pictures, I'm happy. Sure, the 'L' would be nice but for me, the STM works great.

I have the 24-105 L and it is nice, but if I had the option I would have bought STM.

Gripped 6D, gripped 6D2, gripped 70D, 80D and a bag full of lenses.

Originally it was in a kit with the 24-105 L, I think it may have changed after they released the non L 24-105. "grey import" sellers used to often buy the 6D with 24-105L kits and split them up and sell them, as the kit was a fair bit cheaper then the two items by themselves.

Instead of buying the 24-105L from canon, I would suggest taking a good look at the 24-105 from Sigma.
