Shamefully, I have to ask. What is this shiny new thing? Part of a player piano? The insides of a music box?

Nah, no shame. I would not know either.

I have converted the an extra bedroom into a room just for my , as the wife calls it,,,,,,,, "stuff". All my camera gear and a ton of music stuff. So my wife got this for me as an early gift for my birthday. It is for the lack of a better term a music box. The real name of it is "Music in Motion.

I thought it was a music box when I saw the sheets. They look exactly like the ones used in street organs here. Just not the same scale of course.
Can you buy additional music sheets for it, Pete?

J & M have identical facial expressions. Either they're related or they happen to have the same liking for photography . . .

I didn't notice the similar facial expressions at first. They are not related, though they are both rescued strays from the neighborhood. I'm pretty sure they're not related though since I know they had different mommas. They are quite different kitties with very different personalities.

Happy New Year, everybody!!
Where I am we are now exactly one hour and 30 minutes into the New Year. Obviously I have no choice but to post a few fireworks shots! I'm not very good at it, especially since I'm shooting from my bedroom window, over the rooftops, hoping I get lucky and will have the lens pointed at the right spot, but here are two shots.

This looks like a new type of fireworks but it's just twirled in the air and this is how the camera caught it.

And a bit of colour. Too close, but this is fireworks all by private people all over the place, so it's a gamble. :)

Happy New Year, Levina! The folks around me were going nuts with fireworks tonight too. You did well at capturing some action. Really like the second one.
Nice snow shots, KB. I'm glad it's not that cold around here right now.

So I had a little more fun with the kitties and some new year decorations tonight. Needless to say, they didn't particularly care for them. Kosmo was the best sport, but he made it clear what he thought of it.

Morry came by to check things out too.

Junior and the little New Year hat (sense a pattern with it not on their head?)

And another new year brought in with sparklers and some light writing.

Happy New Year to all! I hope we all have a great 2016!!

Nice, Kevin! How big is this one?

BTW, Pete, I thought that might be a music box. Glad to know I was right. That's a pretty cool one too! What tune is it?

Looks yummy, Tim. What's in it?

Here's one more from last night. I've always wanted to try the glowing orb photos with steel wool (and still do), but I thought I'd try it with sparklers last night. Since they had metal rods, I just bent the end of one in a loop and tied a string to it. This was my first attempt at that new "trick". I think I'll have to play a little more with that. :-)

It would be a little better if the church behind my house hadn't put in lights for their parking lot. Now I have to contend with that light pollution in my backyard...

I may be fascinated with volcanoes, but the name's Lisa.
