I was looking at a lens that Camera Canada had a good price on and wondered if there are any warranty issues or extra costs involved getting it shipped to an address in the US?

Thanks

If they ship to you via UPS or Fedex you may have to pay a brokerage clearance fee. If you have them ship via Canadian Post there are usually no extra fees involved. I purchased my Nikon D750 from Ontario and there were no added fees when it was shipped via Canadian Post.

Warranty concerns: For my Nikon I had to register it with the Canadian Nikon and for warranty will need to send it to them and not their US counterpart. Not 100% sure how Canon handles it though...although certain it may be similar.

Gear: Nikon D750, Nikon D7200, Sigma 17-50 2.8 OS, Sigma 50-150 2.8 OS HSM EX , Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR1, Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC, Tamron 70-200 2.8 VC, Tamron 28-300mm Di VC PZD, Tamron 16-300mm VC PZD, Tamron 150-600 VC, Nikon AF-S 50mm 1.8, Nikon SB-900

Canon warranties are North America-wide, which I think means US and Canada, not North American countries like Mexico.

Sony RX10 IV, Canon 7D2, Canon 90D, assorted Canon lenses

This is correct. Most Canon Canada items come with a Canon USA + Canada warranty card, indicating eligibility for warranty service in both countries.

The one known exception at this time is the EOS-1D X, which only comes with a 1-year Canon Canada warranty.

There are no taxes, duties, or brokerage fees charged when the seller uses USPS (not UPS or FedEx) to ship.

Edit: looks like CPW posted at the exact same time as me!

My original post:
Great info has been given so far. I've purchased two items from Camera Canada: a 500L II, and in a separate transaction the 7D Mark II. I can confirm with certainty that you should ensure they ship through the Canadian Postal System (which will then be handed off to the USPS) to avoid any potential fees. And yes, it comes with a regular valid Canon USA warranty.

Camera Canada was outstanding to work with on both of my transactions, which was facilitated by CanonPriceWatch (which is equally outstanding as well).

Buy with confidence and enjoy the tremendous savings from the current exchange rates/prices!

Bryan

Looking at canon Canada they have the 85 1.8 for 400 which is 287 U.S. Dollars which is less than I see it selling for used. Am I missing something?

I have bought from Canada Camera twice, received excellent service and the Canon warranty is valid in both Canada and USA.

My items came through the USPS.

I can not speak to shipping to the US (I live in Canada) but I have purchased from Camera Canada and have been satisfied with their service, shipping and pricing.

I've bought a couple of things from them and have never had any extra shipping costs or fees when shipping to the US via CanadaPost/USPS. The warranty cards I received were US/Canada warranty cards, so no problems there at all.
