Well there was something for me to get super super excited about CES.
Panasonic announced (and I've pre-ordered) the PL 100-400g.
I know few of us in the Sony world also use mFTs but just as big on the news front
is Oly's announcement of the 300mm/F4, also pre-orderable.
I've said it before, if Panasonic and Olympus can give long focal length to their bodies
why not Sony? I say that David in a mutual angst on not having touch.

If you want to show real beauty, turn off the color distractions. Go black and white.

Another stunning beauty of Britney....

Huh? Nikon D5. Come on, get excited and pre-order that high-ISO monster!!! :p
Seriously I never expect serious photography gear to be announced at CES, so I am actually a bit shocked by Nikon's big splash. Impressive new cameras.

It is annoying to see touch-screen interaction on the new D5, because the a7 series should have had touchscreen controls from the very beginning imo.

The D5 the perfect wedding/event cam. I think this is the direction Canon should take the 5DIV.

Im quite impressed that nikon announces such a monster camera. 12fps, 20mpx and iso 3 mil!

However, im not interested in switching to nikon. I never was, and the big body is quite a letdown coming from the A7 small mirrorless bodies. Not too interested in touchscreen as well. Just one more thing that makes the display more vulnerable. Im even happy that the sonys do not have a touchscreen

The flip out screen on the a7 series makes it "more vulnerable". Are you unhappy with the vulnerable flip-out screen on your a7?

To me, these vulnerabilities just make the camera more easy and enjoyable to operate. But, I'm no engineer, so I am woefully ignorant of just how much more vulnerable a touch screen is. Hadn't even thought of that.

you are correct, no TTL or HSS, but I can adjust the power very easily with the 602ctx. Actually, with a few practices, I get the shot 80% in the first try.

I love this set up for travel light on family vacation. I will upload another shot, this tinny 90EX can over power the sun.

Beautiful color (very rich) and the lens rendering is wonderful. Would be even better if the image was level and not tilted. Easy fix in any raw converter. :)

My wife has an S110, and that touchscreen is easy to hit and make it do things you didn't want it to do, like accidentally change the focus point! I don't mind not having a touch screen. Just one more thing that might fail. The articulating screen...now that is something I never thought I would like...but I do.

I love the flip-out screen on my A7R2. I wouldn't mind a touch screen, but only if it had a user menu setting that could turn the touch screen function off, or limit which functions were active on the touch screen.

It will be interesting to see how touch screen is implemented on the new D5. That is no point-and-shoot consumer camera, but one squarely aimed at and designed around the professional photographer's discriminating needs. Who knows - could be a huge fail. Wouldn't be the first time Nikon screwed up up on their screen display design: the D800 had/has the absolute worst Live View display I have ever used/seen.
