Wouldn't there be a lot less strain on the camera mount if you were to use the lens foot with quick release to the tripod?

All the weight is on the back and puts wear on the bayonet mount. Also is subject to more camera shake. You might consider using the lens mount.

Ya, normally I would, but I was just excited to get the new toy. It was just there for a quick picture.

Thanks :-P

This is the second season for me, looking at your pine martens and I have to say, I'm thoroughly enjoying them. I can't tell you how happy I am that your new 7D2 is working out so well.

Some very good shots of the sandpiper. Pretty high shutter speed you used.

Concerning the high shutter speeds, do you see it helping with the AF system or with a particular lens you use?

Ha! Now the she-ruler wants a Martin for a pet :(
I told her that would be illegal in so many ways.
Why can't she be happy with the tarantula I gave her!
You Pondrader are a bad influence.

In my experience anything in the shape of a weasel is evil and should be avoided. Just get her a stuffed one. Or go get a good photo of one and have it printed. Ugh. Nasty little critters even though they are indeed cute as can be. From a distance......

I was shooting BIF just before, did not adjust and I'm shaky.

Very cool to see so many have the same body combo that I have been very happy with. The 6d and 7dii combo is great.

Robert, you will have no trouble finding hawks of all kinds, including northern harriers here in Iowa or Illinois. They are one of the reasons we have such a decline in quail and pheasant numbers. Growing up in SE Iowa it was a cool and infrequent experience to see hawks. Now you can't drive a mile without seeing at minimum 1. They're a beautiful bird but not a friend of the bird hunters here in my neck of the woods.
Have fun and enjoy the John Deere Pavillion.
