Auto iso min shutter, auto iso, aperture priority is how I shoot most of the time. One of the custom buttons on the top is set up.to allow me to quickly change between slower, slow, standard, fast, faster on the min shutter speed

I used to use manual mode 100% of the time but realised after a while I was always selecting my aperture first then choosing my shutter speed to suit (with fixed iso). That's when I changed to mostly use aperture priority mode just to make it quicker. Now I also use auto iso as the high isos are so good (done this on my 5d3 also)

With the A7Rii I have found Auto ISO not to be useful whereas on the Canon 7D2 I use Auto ISO all the time with Exposure Compensation. With the Sony, because you are seeing the actual exposure, I find it easier to keep the camera in Manual model and chose a specific ISO to give my desired exposure.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

I shoot so different every time i head out. Pics of friends and moments, long exposure on tripod, night scenes handheld/ on tripod all requires so different settings...

i mostly shoot wide open on portrait. Maybe it drops down the shutter if light is not enough? i wanna try it this time with enough light.

Probably. I didn't set a max ISO. I'd rather have ISO noise than a blurry shot. Plus the a7rII's low light performance makes it a non-issue in all but extremely low light.

So true. I mean i have shot images that are fantastic but i regret using such a high iso but then when i look at blurry pics ive shot theyre not fabtastic at all. It takes so much quality out of a picture. Just as muh as when you dont hit the focus

I'm fully manual on a tripod too.

Picked up the rx1rII this morning. First impressions....it really is tiny...compared to the a7rII anyway. I was able to easily slip it into a jacket pocket which is cool. The size is probably detrimental for extended shooting though....not the most comfortable thing to hold. Also the battery is proportionately tiny (compared to the a7rII) and I wonder how the battery life will hold up in real world shooting. If its decent, then space batteries are always an easy solution.

Pop-up EVF is a nice addition. It's bigger than I thought it would be...doesn't feel any smaller than the a7 EVF if it is smaller on paper. It's a little awkward shooting with a viewfinder that's oriented to the extreme side of the camera...probably why Sony put the hump on the a7 cameras even though it adds a lot to the size.

In terms of operation....it functions just like the a7rII, but without as many wheels, buittons, and of course, no IBIS. It starts-up quickly, shoots quickly, and AF is fast. It looks like a toy but operates like a serious camera. Very cool.

My personal photos revolve heavily around the 35mm focal length so its a good fit for me....but I have a crazy idea of using this as second body when doing paid gigs. We'll see how that works out.

Wow. Congrats! I hope you like it as much as I like mine!

Looking forward to some photos.

I don't seem to have too many problems with battery life;

i'll try this ^. thank you.

believe me i have no problem with manual mode at all. I'm just trying to experiment what can make me more faster and at the same time get the result i want.

Yes it's true. underexpose, overexpose and noise can be fixed. Blurry images nope.

Ugh got the ebay $100 buck Tamron 200-400 5.6 (in canon fitting) in and have not had a chance to play. I hooked up the comlite adapter and could focus (rather quickly i might add) at 200mm but anything beyond that it just does the focus giggle but wont focus. In manual i have to say i am intrigued. The focus ring is small but it sits perfectly where my had is on the push pull barrel. Just slight turns brings things quickly into the focus peaking world. I have only quickly tried some shots and haven't processed but I think I might like it for a 400mm reach

Think they made this lens in the 90s
