The specs on the D500, blow the 7DII out of the water.
I'd pay $3000 for this camera ... because it does exactly what I'm looking for.

This camera looks to be a game changer! Like the D3/D300 was.
The specs for the D500 are way more than I could have imagined.

If it lives up to the hype this will be my go-to sports camera - when I need the reach and I don't want to lose any IQ.

... and yes I have already pre-ordered one. :-D

Let us know how it is. I'm going to wait until the bugs get worked out and the price drops a bit.

Yea I am most likely going to wait until the sudden flood of D7200's for cheap on the used market to pick one up as my APS-C pairing to the D750... then I will wait to see the reviews and first hand comparisons of ISO and all the bugs being worked out (and inevitable price drop) on the D500 and if it meets my needs I will then sell my two bodies to move down into 1... except I don't know if I could live with just a Sigma 18-35 2.8 as my regular lens.. I mean I loved that lens when I had it on my Canon 70D... but that love affair was cut short when I realized I needed good AF AND low EV focus ability... the good ISO and nice price was just a bonus on the D750 :)

Yea, the review made me itch too... I just wish there was actual exif or direct ISO information provided to have a better handle of how good the ISO is or is not... I mean on a scale of 70D to D750 where does it land for me? I NEED TO KNOW SO I CAN GIVE THEM MY MONEY! :p

The D500 specs sure look good on paper. Should pair nice with my D600 for motosports.:-)

Bit the bullet and pre-ordered a D500 yesterday. Can't wait for them to start shipping.

Yep...I think it will be a great pairing with any FF camera for action/wildlife.
