More shots from the RX1RII. Very impressed that a camera this small performs the way it does....

Lens is stupid sharp:

AF and tracking capabilities are right up there with the a7rII. AF-C Eye focus works:

I really hate the articulating screen on the 70D. Why? Because the hinge is on the outside of the camera and it is really the weakest link on the camera. I much prefer the articulating screen on the A7 cameras. The hinge is invisible when the screen is closed and thus much more protected from damage.

Well, I've tried many touchscreens. The one on my iPhone 3GS and 5. The one on the huge pile of Android and iOS devices at work and the one on the EOS M (first generation). Touch to AF + shoot was a recipe for camera shake on the EOS M. Maybe it was due to my technique and the fact that I've only played with it for a couple of hours. But in my opinion nothing beats physical buttons (or possibly a joystick) and a steady posture to avoid camera shake (next to an appropriate shutter speed of course) when shooting handheld.

Where touchscreens do come in handy, is while reviewing pictures. Pinching to zoom in is a nice thing.

I'm with Gene on this one. Especially when you use a very small focus point, tapping the exact right spot with your finger isn't always that easy.

I totally agree. Touchscreens were an amazing invention for phones and info screens or ATM but on a camera i really dont see much benefit. They made a phone touchscreen because this way you can save space. But even small bodies like A7 have all buttons needed to do what should be done in a camera.

For a late breakfast today, brunch, I made two creamy, fluffy scrambled eggs, thick sliced applewood smoked bacon and potatoes o'brien fried in a little bacon fat and butter. Salt and peppe to taste.

Heart healthy, no but taste...Yum!

Fryin' O'Brien

O'brien potatoes that is. Diced potato, green and red peppers and onion fried in a little bacon fat. This was for my brunch posted above.

I'm kinda shocked at the discourse of touch screens. Go into your cell phone for a second and scroll through the photos, check focus, share the photo..... Well, the camera should be that easy with a touch screen. As of now, it can use a ton of improvement.

BTW, touch to AF+ shoot is just one setting. You can touch to AF, touch to AF zone, touch to AF point, hell, with proper implementation, touch to preview, the possibilities are many.

The Sony remote app, you can touch to AF spot from the phone.... Why not straight from camera? The tech is already here, and been around for ages.

The sentence in bold is a way better implementation of a touchscreen. You can shake your phone around like crazy, it causes zero camera shake if you place your camera on something stable. I'm a fan of WiFi controlling a camera.

O'Korn is a stud man. Pro style quarterback with a hell of an arm. Perfect fit for Michigan's system. Performed really well his first year when we had Doug Meacham as our OC, and was rookie of the year in the AAC. He did better with our offense that season than our record indicates....the losses we had were within one possession against some pretty tough competition. I credited those losses to inexperience since we were loaded with freshman. Unfortunately when Meacham was poached by TCU he regressed big time and was benched in favor of Ward. Not any fault of O'Korn's at all. Our HC at the time and the OC we picked up to replace Meacham were terrible, and Ward did a better job masking the couching issues we had with his ability to scramble. The two of them were fired at the end of that season.

I've been wondering how O'Korn would have done now that we've got Tom Herman and Major Applewhite running the offense here. Wish he would have hung around another year, but am happy that he's getting the chance to prove himself over at Michigan. I think he'll do big things there and will be NFL bound.

Thanks, Mystic. I kind of figured all of this, but I wanted to hear from someone who has seen him play college ball. I watched him play for a half at STA here in FL and he looked like a God, even against the playoff team he was playing.

Harbaugh is a revelation for all Michigan fans, no doubt.

forgive me if i am wrong,i don't have a a7rii to check or even my local store doesn't have one haha, does the newer a7 line up have a fully articulation screen like u mention or just a tilting one like my a7 has? u mentioned the screen being protected when closed so i am confused,is the screen fully backwards so the rear of the screen is facing out fully protecting the screen or do u mean the screen is protected in another manner? i don't know the life span of the 70d articulating screen but in the canon forums i haven't read that its a weak link at all,i flip mine all the time and always feels solid, mind u i haven't used it in a year since the mirrorless craze haha.

If all that food left you thirsty, here's a little something to wash it down with...

Leffe Blond is an authentic blond abbey beer with a slight hint of bitterness to it.
