Got my RL-600b yesterday, and I tested it out in all configurations possible with my ST-E3-RT, YNE3-RX, and the supplied V2 remote. I am happy to confirm that HSS works all the way up to 1/4000 (6D max) with very little gradient. In most photos, the gradation is not noticeable, and only testing against a plain wall can I see that the top of the frame is a little bit darker than the bottom, by about 1/2 stop. Not too bad for a $400 strobe!

I tried the following 3 setups:

1. ST-E3-RT on 6D hot shoe, YNE3-RX connected to RL-600b using PC-sync-to-1/8" mini cable
2. ST-E3-RT on 6D hot shoe, V2 Remote mounted on YNE3-RX hot shoe, no other connections.
3. V2 Remote on 6D hot shoe. No ST-E3-RT or YNE3-RX being used at all.

Setup 1 and 2 both work great with HSS mode, seemingly identically. Setup 3 does not work at all. At 1/180 (6D x-sync) the shots look fine, but at 1/200 there is a significant black bar across the bottom of the frame. By 1/800 almost the whole frame is black.

Setup 1 has the advantage of the proven-reliable, long-distance RF connection from the ST-E3-RT to the YNE3-RX to trigger the Rovelight. I'll probably use it like this most of the time. I can keep the V2 remote in my pocket to adjust the RL with, and to test fire only that light if there is the need to meter it individually.

Good to hear and thank you for the update. Will be purchasing one soon with this info.

Hey guys, I recently tried this light from a colleague and I love it. I mostly do HSS with my Godox AD360 but sometimes need more power. Wich triggers would you recommend for using HSS with the Rovelight? Would i be able to fire both (RL and AD360) with my Godox cells ll?

Excuse my english.. thanks in advance

Phottix Odin works as a trigger on the Rovelight. I believe you can buy a new Godox trigger to for your 360 that allows a cable connection between the two but I have not tried that.

Yes, if you have a pair of the Cells IIC, these will trigger the HD600, as with other receivers you will need to use a sync cable to ensure the pre-sync signal is correctly delivered when shooting above 1/sync speeds. This will then let you trigger both the Godox & HD600 - I have these but have just moved to the new Godox X1 triggers which also work very well.

One last question. If I purchase 2 yn-622n will I be able to adjust flash power via camera hot shoe?

Nope.

Only the rovelight's transmitter can remote change the power.

The YN622's can simply carry the pre-flash HSS signal.

Very best,

Ok so in order to change power I can mount the transmitter that comes with the rovelight on top of the yn622's and it would work fine right?

No - still need the RL/Jinbei trigger for power control - however if you are looking at another set of triggers then check out the new Godox X1-N series these pass through the 1/sync pre-sync signal via the hotshoe which allows for the RL to be directly mounted - unlike the YN-622 as these do not, only via the pc-sync socket.... well not for the Canon versions....

I don't use the transmitter from the rovelight to do any sort of anything. I just keep the transmitter in my pocket for two things: 1) turn on/off the modeling light and 2) change power levels up & down. I don't use it to transmit for the flash sync or anything. I just use my YN622's for the synch and I do not attach or introduce the rovelight's transmitter at all to that. I just again keep it in my pocket for remote power manipulation. Don't need to use it at all with the YN622's. I wouldn't mount it to anything or use it for anything other than power level changing and modeling light.

Very best,

What trigger do you guys recommend to be able to do HSS on both Flashpoint 360(GODOX 360) & Rovelight?

I ordered a YN622 for Canon but it's in back order thinking of just cancelling it and order something else.

Thank you

I use a 622 along with the TX unit for my Streetlight 360. I'm pretty sure some, who have the Rovelight, use it via sync cord.
