Not sure if this is the right section for this because its sort of urban and sort of nature but anyway here we go!

I had heard rumor of hidden railroad tracks out in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey and as with most things out there, there wasn't much information on where any of it was, but I found the rails, and then hiked up and down them a ways and here's what I came away with. Most are shot with my 7D and old Asahi 50.

Hidden below! The earth reclaims its land!

If that's near Carranza in Wharton (as you said on your flickr), I've been there too. An interesting, and strange place. The tracks were removed where it crosses Carranza road, but left in place on both sides for the forest to re-claim. Some of these abandoned lines are mapped on openstreetmap.org - the one that cuts Carranza Road southeast of the memorial is, and is labeled part of the "NJ Southern Railway Branch", with this stretch going from NJ-72 southwest to end somewhere in the forest short of US-206. http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/11581615 (external link)

Yeah some of these pictures were from right near Carranza, but the trestle was near atsion ranger station, i think its gotta be the same line though. Thanks for that information! I would love to check out where it ends.. it could be a cool thing to photograph whats happened to it and where. I might have to hike it once it gets a bit warmer. In the short bit we did hike we found some cool stuff!

Here is why your pictures looked familiar (although much better than mine). It's not the same area but probably nearby. This is from May 2014. By the way I think it was a controlled burn, not a forest fire.
