i agree old school minolta plays very well on the a7,i have a ton of minolta glass and i am happy with all of them. from 24mm to 200mm primes, they are pretty cheap to buy to,also the rokinons/samyang work equally great on the a7,i am very happy with all of those as well

One thing we should look out when buying vintage lenses are its ability to control CA. Rokinons and Samyang are great in that department. As in zero CA at least on my SY135.

I love my Minolta 200 2.8 but some of the other Minolta lenses I have tried had significant problems with flare and a degradation of the image if shot into the sun.

Ok silly newbie question.

I have my 28/2 on and when I go to focus it starts to do a zoom in zoom out thing in the EVF.... It does not appear to affect the end shot sharpness but is weird. I have had it happen 2x now

any ideas?

Are you focusing on a lower contrast target and/or in lower light levels? Sounds like contrast AF doing it's racking motion.

Ohh damn. Guys i really dont want to release GAS on anyone, but it has hit me again. Since i am regretting giving away the TSE24 i was looking for a cheaper tilt shift option, and came across the canon FD 35 f/2.8 tilt shift. Not as wide as 24mm but still a wide angle. Price seems also to be good at around 600$. Many report that this lens is a stellar performer, even some people adapting it to an A7R say it is a fantastic lens. And f/2.8 is nice too, bokeh is reportedly on the smooth side and the MFD is pretty close, so it could act as an allrounder.

Hard to resist now...

Damn, even found one locally for 500$...

I was doing some crude comparisons last night with my new 50Art...and one thing that stuck me is the difference in light falloff from the A7R to the 5DII...the corners were much brighter with the Sony...which surprised me. I kinda like light falloff...especially shooting portraits.

GAS created the modern world...the first caveman had a square wheel...his neighbor wanted a wheel too, but wanted a better one so he made a round one...and the rest is history!:-D

Been looking at stuff to try to find the inner artist in me which has so far failed to externalise itself -?

Came across this - allegedly the most expensive photograph ever sold...

I know which of the two opinions I go with. Ah well I'll keep searching for the artist in me ;-)a

Nah the first guy invented the 'round' one but his neighbours said it would never catch on and all chose the square one because they could stop their wheelbarrows on a hill and it didn't run away. It wasn't until centuries later that one of the round one's lineage reinvented the round one and the rest is history - I think his name was Job (or thereagain it might have been Jobs) :-P His son had to rapidly invent the brake though!

Interesting from a compositional standpoint....horizontal lines through the entire frame. I might not by artsy enough, but nothing about it blows me away.

You also have ridiculous things like $1mm potato photo that any of us with a studio light and backdrop could have shot:

http://petapixel.com …to-sold-for-over-1000000/ (external link)

'Fine Art' photography is a crazy thing. People are paying stupid amounts of money for a photo not necessarily because the photo itself is anything special technically or creatively..... They're paying for the prestige of having a photo shot by that particular photographer. They're buying status symbols...not art.

There's some element of this in all professional photography, but fine art photography takes it to a whole different level.

Also...a lot of fine art is a front for money laundering.
