I may be going to Sebring this year for the 12 hours. I am not sure what all I should take. I am thinking the following:

D7100 w/ grip
Sigma 18-35
Sigma 24-70
Nikon 70-200
Monopod
Rode Video mic pro (will be doing video and stills)
4x32gig sd cards

Extra batteries

Too much, not enough,

Do you have photo credentials?

Last time I shot there it was as a fan and you really are just as close. I would recommend something longer than the 200, I used a 400.

I do not have photo credentials. I have been thinking about getting one of the super zooms from Tamaron or Sigma.

I've never tried one but it should work good during the day.

I'd rather invest in a Nikon teleconverter than a superzoom.
A x1,4 or x1,7 on your 70-200 should be enough to get close to the cars at Sebring, or with a x2,0 you're at 400 mm . The only place where you'd really need a large zoom if you don't have credentials is at the outside of T16.

I'd rent a 28-300 or the much more expensive 200-400 if you don't have a regular need for a long lens.

I ended up getting a good deal on a gently used TC-17EII. I think it will give me what I need with existing kit. I hope we have good weather, not like Daytona so far. I was supposed to be at that race as well.
