Out for a short walk today. Using plants to illustrate curves is almost cheating--they have so many of them. But there was this wintry tree . . .

That tree was full of graceful curves. The hard part was controlling (selecting) the background. Well, focusing in wind gusts was also hard. I had to use manual focus because the branches are narrow. lavanut Goldmember More info | Doesn't it seem to happen that when you find something nice on a tree to photograph, then the wind picks up (or doesn't let up if it's already breezy)? I may be fascinated with volcanoes, but the name's Lisa.

How do you like that G15? I need something to replace my G12 and have been perusing different cameras, including mirrorless. The objective is something small for when I don't want to carry around the DSLRs. I've looked at the G15 too. I didn't have a G12 for comparison; from what I've read, the G15 is pretty similar. Canon didn't change much for the new model (there's no 13 or 14). It's not as good for macro as I expected. Otherwise, it largely suits my skill level. I can't justify getting a DSLR until they get smaller and I learn more, but the G15 lacks some features I'd like. One is: focusing manually by turning a ring would be easier than pressing a button many times to get a series of little increments and having to look back and forth between setting and screen.
