I think a lot of it is just ignorance. We had a Snowy owl near here several winters ago that was constantly being 'bumped' by birders and photographers. It ended up dying from starvation. Raptors are stressed enough as it is this time of year, and chasing them around for photos which makes them needlessly burn calories isn't going to help them.

It seems responsible people are getting fewer and fewer. There was a post on Facebook showing some irresponsible behavior a while back, and sadly most of the people were in support of the person in the wrong even after having several people explain his/her actions were wrong.

Oh no. Many people told them not to. And explained it. But like most, they didn't care. The problem is, you don't know if someone is going to walk over there due to the length of the boardwalk. A couple guys yelled at them to come back, but it didn't phase them. When they got back, people tried to tell them not to go over there. But most said "ok" and walked away.

Unbelievable! You'd think Wildlife agancies would have some say here. "Authorized personnel only. Violators subject to $***. Fine. "
Yeah, I know, more government!

I have same frustrations in Cape Town, South Africa ... not with eagles but other wildlife and birds ...

People tend to forget that the animals are letting us share in their existence, not the other way round ...

I sometimes wish I could tell them the following:

"what you are doing by walking up/chasing these wild animals is no different to a bear walking into your living room while you are eating dinner watching TV - how would you like to have this creature invading your privacy/existance" .....

All we can do is continue to educate, hopefully eventually people will come to their senses ...

As long as the fish are from the Mississippi, it's legal.

And a basket of fish costs between 30-60 dollars. They usually get 2 baskets. I usually give 20 bucks. Most of people do.

Some guys from Oklahoma just posted this video of L&D 14. This will definitely give you a feel for what it is like there if you have never made the trip.
