the 50ART will not be the last ART lens I buy...if they come out with an 85, my Canon 85 is gone...I wish they would do a 135 F2....

A 135mm F/1.2 lens would be cool too. :-P

f2 would be sufficient for the 135...it works well for the canon, and you can still stop down a bit a just annihilate a background...

I'm only a fan of their ART series. They look gorgeous and also deliver optically.

But to be fair: you should also add the price of the Metabones adapter to the equation. After doing that you're probably almost in the Batis 1.8/85 price territory. And the Batis 1.8/85 is lighter, smaller, native (so no possible light leak or reflection problems) and you can use eye AF. The only real disadvantage is that it is 2/3 of a stop slower. But like Carlo said: if you want to "nuke" the background, you're better off with a 135mm F/2 lens.

well metabones is a one time deal and can be split to multiple canon lenses. I have 3-4 canon lenses, so that evens the cost of the metabones to be ~100 more per lens. I wouldnt mind an 85 1.4 for the working distance, however, I'm fairly happy with the lowly 100 f2.

That's the way I look at it. The one purchase of tye mettabones for my 85 paves the way for me to pick up the 50 and later repurchase the 35 art. It also works better with my tse than my viltrox

TBH I usually stop the Sony 135 f1.8 down to f4. I find I need a smaller aperture to get enough DOF unless I frame really loosely. FOV compression usually nukes the background enough even at f4. Personal choice though!

My gas is gone! The lens was in terrible condition, it had kind of dried caramel outside but inside seems clean. I cleaned it as good as i could and it looks now a lot better. The first shots i did indicates that this lens allow a huge shift and is only in the veeeeery far corners with max shift a liiittle soft. But what comes out of this lens at 42mpx is fantastic so far. I believe it will have a problem with flare but also distortion is almost nothing. Tilt is a little less flexible as it tilts not so much but im not using it most of the time anyways. The shift control however, is so much cooler than it was on the TsE24II. It is a lot less cumbersome by just turning the wheel like you would screw it up and down/left right instead of lifting the whole front of the lens with a knob. And finally, it is small and light.

Same here, I stop my 135 to F4, plenty of separation even when I have it on my crop body.
