Beautiful shot, 2slo! But then, I'm a sucker for shots of trees in winter. :-)

OK, you inspired me to post one of my tree shots. Not as good as yours, though. Mendocino County, California.

Good subject! It would be worth doing a sequence on that tree under different light, different seasons etc.

The Mendocino region is rich with beautiful, spreading oaks. You could easily develop a portfolio of such shots, and in fact I have taken many myself.

Here's another:

Intriguing. There must be a story behind it. Are those humans or sculptures?

The shadows are truncated about thigh-high. Must be sculpture of some sort.

Now I'm embarrassed. The shadows might have been short because of the angle of the sun, but I failed to notice that their tops are all alike, with that unrealistic notch.

I don't do much B&W, but once in a while I get a shot that does it justice (to me at least ;) )

Bingo! It's a sculpture by Magdalena Abakonowicz, titled "Standing Figures (Thirty Figures)", in the Sculpture Garden of the Nelson-Atkins Museum here in Kansas City MO. Here is a more complete (but less dramatic) view.
