I don't know if my eyes are playing tricks on me but how is a car in the distance and guard rail relatively next to camera both in focus?

Good catch. Should know better than to try to pull one over in this forum... you guys are a tough crowd. :)

The first one was a social media promo shot taken on the eve of the July "Blue Moon". We had two cars coming up the "esses" that were shot at both f/2.8 and f/5.6. The shots at f/5.6 gave some flare on the headlights, which appealed to the powers that be. Two shots were merged, creating the one that was used. This is the unadulterated shot at f/2.8:
