One more thing that I thought I noticed from my ol' 7D bodies. Somebody may come in here and refute the suspicion I have based on technical merits, but I think the high ISO gets better the more I shoot with it. After about 10K on the 7D, the high ISO was fairly clean. I think after 8 games or so, I might be seeing that here too? Not sure if there some sort of electronic burn-in that occurs after that much usage, but the levels of noise and detail seems to be a bit better than when I first got it, but I suspect I am just imaging things.

In general, electronics do not "burn in". It seems to be a misconception based on acclimatization of the user to the equipment - as happens in the audio community where people think that their expensive equipment improves as it has signal run through it. ߘ In fact, electronics suffer a steady degradation in performance over time due to temperature cycling and semiconductor dopant migration, etc. but usually it doesn't noticeably affect performance because they're designed via feedback or biasing to tolerate a range of device parameters. Electrolytic capacitors in particular get steadily worse over time and eventually go out of spec, which causes audio gear to fail in unpleasant ways.

In the audio world, it's just that the listener gets used to any differences or coloration over time and the item "sounds better" (this applies to transducers, as correctly designed electronics don't have any sound under normal use).

In photography, I see this sort of illusion occasionally; but what I think is happening is that I subconsciously get better at making use of the lighting (natural or artificial), selecting phase angle for shots, or maybe even metering. All of these can affect perceived detail and visible noise. I know for sure that my use of PP to enhance image quality gets more effective as I get comfortable with the camera. So maybe things do improve, but not due to some magical property of the hardware.

Even my 7D gives me better results now that I've had a chance to experiment with the 7D2 and apply what I've learned, and I strongly doubt that it started to burn in as soon as I bought the 7D2. İߘ

Peter,
Looks to me like the pine needles may have stolen the focus on this one.
