Interesting.
I have a Sigma 24-105 F4 that constantly loses the F stop information and when that happens it changes into Manual mode. I have to unclick the lens and then re-attach it - everything then works until it happens again. I thought it was just the weight of the lens causing it to slightly rotate and the connection isn't 100% tight, a member on another board mentioned this was an issue - but he said you could just slightly twist it back and the data will be re-aquired - no luck with my Sigma but it happened once also with my Canon 24-70L F2.8 and it did work, so maybe it is a connection issue that is common to many Sigma lenses. If you re-try auto mode and when it stops working, quickly unclick and reclick the lens, and then if it works, it would appear to be a similar issue that could be either just a physical thing or a electronic thing where for some reason Sigma lenses are losing communication.
It would be great if you could re-port back on this issue and then send an email for Metabones if what I said is also happening to you. I did and they want me to send my Metabones to then and they want to send a new one - I still may but I want to do more testing. They actually went out and bought a Sigma 24-105 after I notified them.
This is one reason why I bought the Metabones. I saw that not only could you update the firmware, but they seemed to release new firmware fairly frequently. This company cares about constantly improving the quality of its existing products, not just selling you the next model. I bought it for what it can do out of the box, but also thinking that in the future, it may have better support for more lenses than it currently does.
I will test this out and see what I can find. Naturally I wish, and still hope, that perhaps there is just some flag I changed in the settings that would fix this. But I like to see a company so dedicated to its customers, and if I can help improve the product, I will.
