Sorry Justin,... This one was kinda cool though !!

Haha, I'll just wait for my girlfriend to give me a reason to skirt away to the northern territory for a few weeks and tromp around the wilderness to match you kit for kit.

Oh yeah? Gainesville has been sitting at a soggy 50*F all week. My students even made fun of me for a puffer vest a few days back.

Fortunately, I'm heading towards Denver with a few friends in a few weeks to get my snow fix.

Just Sayin ..... thats right now

Only once back in 1982 we hit -32F at the cabin. Once is enough in a lifetime. Hats off to you and all Canadians for dealing with it and wearing a smile. Just tells me how hardy a group you are and how lucky we were last week in Ontario.

Ya true, It can be a real pain trying to see through the viewfinder at times. yesterday there was a snow drift and a good fog in my viewfinder more than once. it helps if you can hold your breath for 1/2 hour or so while your shooting

So here I was, trying to get photos of a Great Horned Owl, and guess who happened to be standing next to me.

Peter2516

It was great to meet you Peter, hope we see other again soon. And thanks for sharing all your great spots.

Did Peter recognize you from all your black and white beads?

Beautiful shot, After you left she moved again but not much and still no luck of the owlets either. I think any day now since she was moving a lot and trying to do something under her.
Nice to meet you too, and you are welcome Abacus. Hope to see you around. BTW I stayed a little bit more than went home soaking wet ;)

Here is a laugh for all you birders... I've lived in rural NY, done my fare share of camping and outdoor activities, and only about 2 or 3 years ago realized what an owl actually sounds like realizing I have heard then so often in my life. Living now in northern Illinois I hear them all the time during long daytime walks. Never once have I seen one. . <chuck at myself>

I suggest sitting down by the fire and reading "To Build a Fire" by Jack London!;-)a

Poor bi-athletes down in Presque Isle, Maine are having to race in those conditions. And here I have been complaining about 0°C and fog.

You really want Commentary Guy ?? The adults will interact in this way with the kits that are now 10 months of age and have returned to the territory of the parent foxes. So far no one has been seriously bitten or injured. This is a kit in a completely different area. His eye's looked absolutely frozen as he's constantly got his head under the snow looking for anything he can get his mouth on.

Thanks for the commentary. Do the parents remain together each year within the territory, or does new pairing occur?
