I went with LR's photomerge in this case...seemed to work ok. Below is a similar pano from the Zeiss 55/1.8

Both are very nice.
I cannot notice a big difference on my laptop after clicking on the "specs" enlarger.
Which of the two images do you prefer even though there was a time difference?
I saw a YouTube video where someone said the Otus is the bees knees.

I love using the otus for panos but the 55 is nice too because of its reputation and AF

Does anybody have the Canon 100-400 L II with this body? Instead of the 70-200 f/2.8 (which gave such a great photo above), I am considering a telezoom with longer reach as such, and filling focal length gap with an 85 prime. Still doing lots of research and always working on the long-term plans for my lens lineup.

I have the EF 100-400L II and thought I had used it with my A7RII, but a quick metadata search in LR shows I have not. Something to try out this weekend! :-)

Tried LA EA3 with A7rII. Worked seemlessly and got a new Meikon EF-FE adapter, apart from mechanical flaws, it works.
This is first birding shot with A7rII and 70-400G

Something weird just happened with my camera & lens combo. Last night I attached my Sigma 18-200mm lens, which is a crop lens. The camera automatically switched into APS-C mode -- filling the viewfinder, monitor & resulting image with data. I was playing around with the menus and suddenly the extreme vignetting you'll see when you have a crop lens attached in full frame mode was showing in my monitor. Something happened to make the "Auto" setting not work. I know there are some non-obvious dependencies among some of the settings in this camera, but I don't know what might be causing this.

If I set the "APS-C/Super 35mm" setting to "On" then it fills the frame as expected.

If I set it to "Auto" it does not fill the frame now. It was set to Auto previously and was working with this lens.

Does anyone know what other setting may be causing the auto APS-C mode to not work?

I am attaching the Sigma lens (in my sig) to my Sony A7RII using the Metabones IV T adapter.

Thanks,
heldGaze

That's my favorite shot from this series. I also really like the cave photo above it. And I agree with you. The more I use this camera, the more pleased I am with my decision to get it. It truly is the camera of the future today.

What lens/focal length were you using for this photo?

Interesting.

I have a Sigma 24-105 F4 that constantly loses the F stop information and when that happens it changes into Manual mode. I have to unclick the lens and then re-attach it - everything then works until it happens again. I thought it was just the weight of the lens causing it to slightly rotate and the connection isn't 100% tight, a member on another board mentioned this was an issue - but he said you could just slightly twist it back and the data will be re-aquired - no luck with my Sigma but it happened once also with my Canon 24-70L F2.8 and it did work, so maybe it is a connection issue that is common to many Sigma lenses. If you re-try auto mode and when it stops working, quickly unclick and reclick the lens, and then if it works, it would appear to be a similar issue that could be either just a physical thing or a electronic thing where for some reason Sigma lenses are losing communication.

It would be great if you could re-port back on this issue and then send an email for Metabones if what I said is also happening to you. I did and they want me to send my Metabones to then and they want to send a new one - I still may but I want to do more testing. They actually went out and bought a Sigma 24-105 after I notified them.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

This is one reason why I bought the Metabones. I saw that not only could you update the firmware, but they seemed to release new firmware fairly frequently. This company cares about constantly improving the quality of its existing products, not just selling you the next model. I bought it for what it can do out of the box, but also thinking that in the future, it may have better support for more lenses than it currently does.

I will test this out and see what I can find. Naturally I wish, and still hope, that perhaps there is just some flag I changed in the settings that would fix this. But I like to see a company so dedicated to its customers, and if I can help improve the product, I will.

Never happened to 24-105OSS but a frequent issue on E mount lenses on smaller Nex cameras.

It really is an impressive bit of kit and I'm really getting to grips with it now I have all the custom buttons working for me. That shot was taken with the Sony 16-35 F4, it was shot at f4, at 24mm and ISO 6400 and of course 1\5th! Which I would never have been able to do with my previous gear.
