Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This weeks the theme is Multiples. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

Let's see some Multiples!

Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between Monday Sunset and the following Monday by Sunset (Whenever that is for you ). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES
That's it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it!
Have fun!

We had a glorious day today: cold, but clear skies, sun and no wind. So I went for a walk in the park and on the thin ice that covered part of the lake was a very large group of gulls. Of course I only had the 300mm with me, so I took multiple shots of these multiple gulls and stitched them (the shots, not the gulls) in Photoshop. It's just a snapshot of course and it looked much better in real life, but I thought it fit the theme nicely.

Nice start Levina. I went out this morning and basically took some similar shots, with geese being the subject. Stiching photos is something I never attempted. Not sure I've got any software to do any stitching. Keep those pictures coming.

Thanks, Joayne and Terry.
I also have a few half decent shots of a Kingfisher. Unfortunately there was only one... :p

Stitching is fairly easy if you take the pictures carefully. If possible, use a tripod. Overlap the shots by around 20-25% as this helps the software to match the images.

Newer versions of Lightroom will stitch. Most versions of Photoshop will stitch.
Free software that will stitch are http://research.microsoft.com …/um/redmond/projects/ice/ (external link) for PC's.
Or http://hugin.sourceforge.net/download/ (external link) for windows or Mac.

Thank you for that information. That is something I really need to try.

You are very welcome.

The other thing to be aware of is the exposure. It's best to be in manual so that your settings don't change between images.
If you're in AV, double check your settings on the images to see if they have changed between the images.

One from this late afternoon. A doe and her Multiple fawns, three to be exact. They were resting at the far end of my pasture. As there has been quite a bit of coyote and cougar activity down by the creek lately, she was busy staying on guard.:-)

Also, make sure the white balance is set the same. Not AWB either

Love that shot, Terry! Such beautiful animals. They have amazing eyes.

Coming back to the thread now and seeing my pic with fresh eyes, it seems a bit blue, doesn't it?

I mentioned a Kingfisher that I bumped into yesterday. Well, today I went back, same place, same time and the lady - it's a female - was there! And what's more, she was in a spot where I could approach her unnoticed as there was a big tree that hid me from sight. So I just had my gear going around the bend of the tree and shot away and she never noticed me. She was fishing. I couldn't shoot the actual fishing as the water was hidden behind reeds, but I did photograph her after she came back with the fish on the branch. I took nine from a sequence and put them in a little collage. So these are multiple shots of a Kingfisher. I reduced size of each of them and put them together and applied a bit of output sharpening but the shots are otherwise unprocessed. I am really delighted with the 200 or so shots I took of this bird.

I've used hugin in the past with great results. +1 for that software.
