Absolutely love the colours from this lens. I barely have to edit any shots out of it. So amazing.

And that just shews why this 'macro' lens is my go-to lens for portraiture.

Just one more from this shoot.
I love the colors and the sharpness.

I also have both and agree with DodgyExposure on all counts. The real differentiator is weight and size. If you don't need zoom, then the 100L is considerably easier to work with.

I agree with DodgyExposure & Snafoo.
I also have the just excellent 70-200 f/2.8 II, and the 100 L.
Both are outstanding and I use both often.
The MFD of the 100 L gives it an edge for some work and its light weight and compact size is very appealing.
The 70-200 is such an excellent & versatile focal length, and great lens in general.
Both are beautifully constructed.
I would never sell either lens.

I have posted a couple of portraits I took using the 100L, and on Flickr anyway, viewing them "Original Size" allows for some serious pixel peeping.
I love the colors the 100 L provides.
I have also taken many portraits with the 70-200 and those images are also crazy sharp.

Hope this helps with your decision.
