Having a grand time here in Maui...... The whales are pretty quiet compared to the last 3-4 years but we aren't done yet!!!!!

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

So quiet in here; I hate to see this thread die.

Okay, so I am home and here are 2 pictures to share. I hardly took any; in the past I could come home with 1500 shots but this time, I only took about 60!! Too busy watching & enjoying the close up action. We did have a whale breach right over the bow of our raft on Friday; we were sitting out there in quiet waters when a full sized, 90,000 lb, 50 foot whale leapt up about 40 feet in front of us, all of his body out of the water, did a half turn in the air & came down with a thundering crash. About 10 people on the raft had never even see a whale before so after we recovered from that show, I turned around and said: "well now you have seen ALL of a whale!"
20+ years of whale watching & lots of close by breaches but I have never seen anything like that before. It was beyond incredible and made my whole week with that one leap.

Almost every afternoon a few dark clouds float over the top of the west Maui mountains & there are rainbows everywhere. I did not bring my wide angle lens this trip but with my 400mm lens, I was able to catch a helicopter flying right in to the rainbow (for something different). And a very large frolicking calf in full breach; this baby started out at 3000 lbs at birth but we figured he was about 5-6 weeks old by now and 10,000+ lbs and getting ready to leave for Alaska.

new to this thread, here's a couple of my contributions - this is some ice outside of our cabin a few weeks ago, taken from the frozen over lake.

Welcome, Springer! It sure looks cold in your area, thanks for sharing.

We had great weather (if you enjoy the sun) this weekend. Went to a friends branding on Sunday, took a few pictures, but nothing great. :-(
I do like this shot of my friends new puppy.

Those are great shots of your son, Stina. After trying to chase whales through the air all week, I am ready to get back to people this week. I have my weekend booked for toddlers, families and pregnancy shoots.

Can you stand a few more? I didn't shoot much but came away with most of my 60 whale shots in almost focus or close enough.

Cute green Sea Turtle. The lighting is the same but the water changed colors every few feet. These are 2 different turtles & a tight crop.

How about seeing how my GoPro did? I wish I could post the videos of the humpback swimming around our raft singing the whale song but it is too large to post here. Here is my sister & I out on the raft, then along with my husband at world famous Mama's Fish house for Valentines Day.
