Thanks guys :D
was definitely an interesting day out, they move pretty fast, so in the end at the 1 second mark of the countdown i just mashed the shutter button. the slower FPS on the 6d leaves it to pure luck :)

Much happier with the 16-35/4 IS than 17-40L which always had crap corners.

16-35 is sharp all over great sunstar and low CA.

IS is a bonus I was pulling off 1/2 second waterfall shots in catlins hand held ( had tripod so mostly for giggles).

Its got enough quality I dont reach for the 24tse as often.

I went out the other day and decided to get pics of boats on the harbour, but what I wanted was panned shots. I discovered that boats move fairly slow and therefore panning at long shutter speeds is quite hard. Boats also do not behave very well at all, they move forwards or backwards, up and down and roll side to side all at once making panning a very interesting operation. I also used an 8 ND filter. Still working on the post process side but here is an example.

Hi All,
I hadn't realised I hadn't been in since last year.
Some nice photos here.. and a Nice collection from you Tony.

My Photography is also a little on the back bench at the moment..
Other hobbies just seem to attract me more at the moment.

Not to worry, I'm not selling any of my gear yet.

Less than 4 weeks till I'll be in New Zealand...
Yay!

Thanks Chris.
Unfortunately I don't have much time in New Zealand, so I won't be able to organize a meetup.
