Stina, some sort of encrusted float or bouy? To bad the owl wasn't looking your way.

Yes, a float on a water trough. :D

That was the first time I have been able to see one of the owl's that hang out in my yard at night. I set my camera on the tripod and used a flash light on him. I don't think he would of liked it if he was looking at me, but I agree with you. :)

This is actually great fun! Certainly has gotten me to thinking about trying to capture images to cover the various categories.

For what it's worth, that is pretty much exactly the stated goal of the thread, and why I started it. From the very first post of not only this thread, but last year's as well:

"The idea behind this is to get out and shoot more – and to look for subjects where perhaps you ordinarily wouldn’t."

And you did a really good job!

OhioHick wrote in post #17915483 (external link)
But she also keeps suggesting older images from some of our trips to cover the categories. Hunting through all those photos is certainly a scavenger hunt! I'm thinking that I could create two sets of photos for the hunt, one of current images to cover the topics for the given month and one from existing photos. I might give that a shot. But for now, here's my contribution to the February hunt from the photos taken this month.

Also for what it's worth, that is almost the opposite of the idea behind the thread, lol.

I mean I don't think there's anything wrong with thinking about photos you've taken that fit into the month's topics, but I think trying to recreate them or even improve on them is more along the lines of what this thread is about. It's about having some ready ideas about what to go shoot on those days when you just want to go shoot something but you're not really sure what. It's a way to find yourself looking closely at things you usually might ignore because now they might fit a topic you're looking for, so you find yourself looking for a creative way to shoot something you otherwise might not have shot at all. Looking through photos you've taken in the past for ones that fit a specific topic is certainly something that might interest people though, and might even be a good idea for its own thread.

That being said, they were pretty cool pics!

My Town:
This topic was my favorite. I decided to do some double-exposures with a film camera. I shot a whole roll of film of the word "Charlotte" on the side of the Charlotte Observer's building, and then walked around town looking for things that said "Charlotte" to me, and shooting those on the same roll.
