Was able to leave work a little early today. Decided to go to the local park to see what was going on. Nothing. Until I got there, this fellow was all alone

More wonderful shots!

That is one amazing looking sun, John.
And with surveillance cameras everywhere, that is a good question, Pete.

I went to the cemetery today. The plan was to shoot birds there. But it is early March, trees are mostly barren and the birds apparently went into hiding. I walked around for an hour or so and then saw this and thought of this week's theme. I usually shoot people on the street with a wide angle, 35mm or 50mm at most, and in full sight. But this was at a cemetery, a man alone on a bench. It felt inappropriate to go up to him and shoot him from close up. I also felt I couldn't ask his permission. So I shot him with the 300mm and I shot him from behind because I didn't want his face visible. I like the image a lot, even though I don't like the stealthy way I took it.

Nice catch, Pete, John and Levina.

I didn't have a camera on me, but found ourselves all alone in the bowling alley last night after work, so I took a shot with my phone. ;)

That's a nice one, Stina. Places like that get something rather sad when they're deserted...

That's an excellent shot John. HOW did you get the sun like that?

That's a great shot Levina. Very moving. I've had similar thoughts running through my mind for this weeks' theme. Thinking of the many homeless that inhabit the downtown area where I work. I just don't want to take their photos face on like you talked about. Feels wrong somehow.

Thank you, Kody. I'm glad you said that about how it feels wrong somehow to photograph vulnerable people face on. I feel the same way.

Thanks, guys. We got there around 5:30 and leagues don't start till 6:30, so we were a bit early.

I love bowling. We started bowling on a league last September but the new league schedule didn't work for us this time. We're hoping to get on a summer league. :-)

I really like that shot, Levina. It's perfect for this theme. Well done!

Stina, I enjoy bowling too! It's a lot of fun to go to the lanes. I don't remember times when they were that empty except when I was in collage. Back in my freshman year, the college I attended had a small bowling alley in the student center. I had a 3 hr break between classes in the afternoon on some days, so there was a stretch I'd go over to the alley & play. You can get pretty good when you bowl a lot. :-) Of course you also can get pretty bad when you don't bowl much at all (like now). :-( It's still a lot of fun though!

Very nice sunset, John! Great conditions that day and a great capture!

I may be fascinated with volcanoes, but the name's Lisa.

Wow thanks all, to me the photo was almost a throw away. I couldn't think of anything else for the topic so I posted it anyway and it seems to be liked, go figure

Kody, I believe its the effect of Vog (external link), which gives a hazy almost like filtered view, with a tad of help being in paradise..

So this afternoon I look up and it's snowing! First time I've seen snow this Winter, which wasn't a Winter at all...

I always get excited when it's snowing and feel an uncontrollable urge to take photographs. I quickly shot a few people from my apartment on the third floor and then thought I would go out and shoot some more, but after I had packed my gear and dressed up, it had stopped snowing. However, when I looked at the shots I thought: Braving the elements alone...

I shot this with my 300/4 and from some distance and as such I was shooting through many layers of, mostly out of focus, snow flakes. That does give some funky results... :-)
