I picked up a Sigma TC 2001 2x today and so far I'm still floored by how sharp this lens is even with the TC. AF seemed to be great but I haven't done any tracking with it yet.

Here's some 600mm 5.6 shots..nothing fancy just some test shoots. I tried the TC on the 70-200 MK II and I see hardly any loss in IQ. The sigma is a really nice TC.

view them on flickr for higher quality! Tomorrow Im going to go find some eagles down on the river!

the new TC only works with this sigma lens, right? i'm debating on picking one up myself...as i have the newest firmware on my lens, and they say it's not compatible with the older TC's...it works though, but i wonder if i'm not getting the best out of it

I'm new to the Sigma game so I'm not 100% sure what the NEW TC is compatible with. Sigma states they only work with the new global vision line of lenses. I know the Canon 70-200mkII works on it and works very well.

I saw a dozen or so Eagles today in the hour i was down by the water, but most were on the wrong side of the river. There were two that perched up near where I was hanging out but I still couldn't get close enough to really get some good shots. the light was terrible this morning, heavy dreary overcast and it was cold as hell. The closest I got was about 75 yards so everything was shot at 600mm with the newest model Sigma TC 2x.

This was the first time Ive tried "birding" so to speak!

These are heavy crops! Click the link for higher quality! Im not sure why they don't show up as good here as they do on flickr.

Here is the full frame of the above image. Im really impressed by how well the lens performed with the TC in really bad light. I can't wait to get this thing out in primetime and get after it!

Hi, I got a S/H Sport delivered earlier today mainly to use at weekends for football but I think it will end up as my 600mm wildlife lens as well with a Canon x2ii TC. Bloody heavy and massive but I am still glad I didn't try one before buying. This is going to be a love hate relationship I think!! Here are a couple of my first shots. Oh I had to fess up to the wife as soon as I walked through the door as no hiding this monster.

I'd give serious consideration to getting a Sigma TC (or at least a mk3 Canon) in your situation. My lens works very, very well with the Sigma (EX DG) 2.0tc. The new Sigma TC's are a bit better from my understanding

Is there a lot of difference with the Canon mkii TC and the new Sigma apart from money

I did my first football match yesterday with my new 120-300 and it performed flawlessly with only a very few OOF shots and that was my fault. I cannot believe how sharp it is. Very happy I got this lens now

Do you submit to the local paper? This is good work.

Canons to the left, Canons to the right,
We hold our L glass toward the light,
Digitizing in a snap reflective glory
That will forever tell our imaged story.

No but thanks for the comment. I take them for fun and for the team it keeps me off the touch line with the other parents talking football and refs.

I couldn't tell you from personal experience I'm sorry. Earlier in this thread Gabe tried a few 2.0 TCs (including the Canon mk2) and found the Sigma EX DG worked best with his non-Sport lens. I have seen a couple of other anecdotes in this thread too

He did not use the newest Sigma TC in that comparison. The Sigma TC 2001 2x is the newest model
