very nice, thank you! That noise level isn't bad at all! But then again 6400 on the 7D2 is what my T3 looks like around 800. Might well go with the 7d2, despite the crap battery life.

I get 1300 shots with my old 7D batteries with GPS turned off. I am happy with that. I have not tried the battery that came with the camera yet.

But do XP's also get the same "free offer" that Windows is pushing to us Win 7 hold-outs?

I don't believe it's free for machines running XP or Vista OS. Microsoft doesn't support XP and they're ending support for Vista soon too. The free upgrade is for 7 and newer OS.

A couple of shots taken this evening at sunset. The start of the 2016 Cain's Quest snowmobile endurance race. These shots are not the greatest but not bad all things considered. I think this year it is 3500km. They usually have a website with live tracking for any interested in this sort of thing. The shots were taken about 150 feet from my house.

Something different. Both shots are full frame, just re-sized for posting.

I have sharper shots than this one but this one I find has a certain feel to it.

Cormac,
If you go to fredmiranda.com's Sports Corner, I posted a bunch of photos at 16,000 ISO. There were to links to two of the full size images if you want a look. The post should be easy to find on the first page. I believe it has 16,000 or 16000 in the title.
Edit:
Here is the thread

Does DPP run on XP? It could be a batch translator.

I bet you are doing a Lot of bursting. The muktishotss are near free on the battery. Most of us if we were to only take single shots are down at about 500 shots/Full battery. :-(

If i am doing bif i do burst but on perched birds i take 1 or 2 shots at a time. I also use my camera as a scope when looking around for birds, so the focus and is are working a lot without taking a pic. Do you have GPS on?

Not sure on DPP 4, DPP3 does and my memory is it was updated to support the 7DII. I suspect DPP3 might still be downloadable, might even be on the disk, will be be for an older camera if you have one.

This is all OT of course:

I don't follow the race but this year I could see the baracades from the end of my driveway so had to try for some shots.
Yeah, Lab city has been home for a while now.
About 22 hours is my estimate as well but you need to go to google maps and follow Quebec highway 389 in terrain view to really get a feel for it. About 100 miles of the 389 is gravel. A trip to your backyard is on my bucket list.
Snow wise, I'd guess we are close. Official average annual snow fall here is 16 feet. Winter is long and cold. The snow starts in October and you can find snow in mid June. Basically two seasons: winter and almost summer.

Rod
