In mid-to-late March, approximately 300,000 snow geese pass through on their spring migration and stop at Freezeout Lake near Fairfield, Montana. They are just starting to arrive now, with only a couple thousand snow geese in the area. I wanted to get out and scout out a few areas before the real show arrives shortly! ![]() ![]() ![]()

I won't argue that numerous snow geese pass through Montana for migration, but it looks like you captured a flock of Tundra Swans (possibly Trumpeter) - 25 seconds into video Will immaculens.com

I was in a hurry to post and didn't look closely at all! We do get a lot of Swans especially during this early part of the migration. It's about half and half swans and snow geese right now.

Mar 06, 2016 11:33 | #998 I've been looking through this thread trying to find advice on a good way to MFA my lens relatively easily. It's not out by much, but I do see some benefits from playing around with in camera MFA.... I'd love to use the USB dock to set MFA at different focal lengths given we have that ability... I've used the Dot-Tune method before, but not with a lens with such a range of lengths. I don't want to invest in specialist software or hardware. Any advice or links gratefully received! Do you have a body with the microadjustment feature? If so - I would download a MFA chart from the internet - zillions of free ones out there - and place it on a clipboard or flat surface ensuring the paper is indeed flat - and at a 45 or 30 degree angle 30 ft from you. Have your centre focus point at the -0- and make sure it is exactly there using Live View. Then turn off LV and take 3 test shots and see where focus falls with MFA set at -0- in-camera.
